I think there are probably lots of people who turn to some religion when the fear of death is upon them.
Fear is at the basis of all religion.
Good point.

Sure. Why not? While I'm at it, I'll also call out to Zeus, Jupiter, Vishnu, Buddha, Confucius, the spaceship that followed Haley's Comet, the spirit of my dead grandmother, my dog's ghost, Santa, and the Easter Bunny.

They, like your God, will remain silent. If I survive, then I will claim it as proof that all eleven beings worked together to save my life. If I die, then you can all say that it was Santa's will. Or that maybe I had just enough doubt about the Easter Bunny that he wasn't able to help me.

Or, you could say that the only true God was the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and either by leaving him out or by worshipping all of the other fake Gods, he decided not to extend his Noodly Appendage to me.

Considering there is no evidence for any God, including yours, and considering that in all religions, worshipping the wrong God is even worse than worshipping none at all, Pascal's Wager isn't a winning proposition.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, either, but I'm being blunt.

For what reason? Do you think your god would be fooled that easily? Someone spends their whole life saying something doesn't exist and in the last second says, "oops."

Come on now, if your god is truely omniscient then it knew beforehand what type of people we would be so it wouldn't even matter.

Maybe you should read your mythology some more.

Nope. I know I'm going to die some day. My opinion about the god thing is not going to change. On the other hand, you might get an idea, just before the lights go out forever, that there is no one there for you to call out to.

Nope. I spent two weeks struggling with the image of myself decomposing in a coffin. It took some getting used to, but I am going to die. And when I die, I'll stop being. It'll be pre-birth. I don't need Jesus to save me from not being aware.

Hethens, You all need to be ashamed. I know there people like you that don't belive in GOD or any higher power. But to truly answer this questions you would have to be there first. I know that I would be calling on my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you Jesus.

Not unless I have severe alsheimers. I would honestly be more likely to rub a lamp to get three wishes from a lamp genie than I would to call out to an alleged 2 thousand year old zombie.

People who believe in a god look to him/her when their judgement day comes, not atheists.

No more than I'd consider asking for forgiveness from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles....
