With all the pet food recalls I've switched to a homemade diet for my 5 month old chihuahua. I'm not exactly sure what would be a balanced diet for her. In the morning I feed her a scrambled egg, shredded cheese, and a small amount of bacon. Then for lunch I feed her a soup of chopped carrots, peas, corn, and chicken broth. At dinner I feed her ground beef and brown rice with cooked vegetables. For snacks/treats I feed her a little peanut butter, oatmeal, and Cheerio mix or plain yogurt with granola(no raisins) Is there anything I need to add or take away from her diet?

I've recently been experimenting with various types of home made dog food as I no longer use commercially manufactured ones. The reason is simple I have heard some horror stories about some of the things that go into the foods even the premium varieties and I just care too much for my dogs to put them at risk. Natural homemade dog food is the way to go.
Take away the corn, corn is not really great for dogs. Seems like a nice diet. Homemade huh? Add more vegetables, and defentatlly add friut. Like, cut apple slices, more carrots.. NO avocados..... Go to this site for great helathy dog diet tips. It has a ton of great tips you can count on.

Here is one you can also try:

Mix Together 2 cups of cooked brown rice with a few tablespoons of lard or vegetable oil, add 2/3rds of a cup of either cooked or raw minced beef. Finally mix in a quarter of a cup of grated vegetables.

I would talk to the bvet for a good diet.
The one thing I'm worried about what you are feeding is the pup loosing her teeth at ta very young age due to not having anything to chew on.
I have been breeeding and raising chihuahuas and have always fed Purina Puppy chow.

I knew a guy who had a chihuahua that would only eat chicken. That was fine with him. He said it only ate two chickens a week. That would be like me eating two goats a week. It also ate a piece of my finger once.

I want to move in with YOU. And you do not have to clean up my poopy.

Seriously - your dog needs lots more meat. I buy fresh ground beef - grass fed - for my dogs. Think of your dog's distant relatives - wolves. They did not eat yoghurt or brown rice. Or oatmeal or cheese. Eliminate these.

Feed your dog raw meat and it will live lots longer and be much healthier.

If your goinf to take all that time to prepare a homecooked meal you might as well feed a raw diet which is healthier.
