The disassociation is a practice that has been continuous since the time of the apostles. The perfection of the Gospel is in Christ, and that is not dependent upon the perfection of those who follow him. The apostles, and Jesus himself, warned of those who would come teaching a false Christ. The faithful followers of Christ point them out for the safety of the children. This is not a failure but a victory.
The same process is taking place in Islam. There are thousands of people who betray the "peacefulness" of Islam and many more have begun to call them into account. Both sides say they are the true Islam. Which do you say is correct? Are your attentions toward those in error? So there is really no difference, and you are far from admitting that Islam is a failure. If you can see this when applied to yourself you can surely see that it is applicable to others.

Peter said that he did not have much time left, so make sure you are saved. Double-check yourself for the traits and qualities of those who have genuinely known Christ.
We only shun the following:
1 Cor 5:11
11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be
a fornicator,
or covetous,
or an idolater,
or a railer,
or a drunkard,
or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
(KJV)
This passage the basis of who to have fellowship with. I call Catholics to repent for their idolatry. The wise man who is rebuked will love the one rebuking him. Anger and hatred are fruits of a spirit not of God.
You are talking about the failure of mankind and his sinfulness, but so many have succeeded in living a quite and pea cable life. But that does not make news.
What makes news is a church that worshiped their pastor so much that they allowed him to fornicate and continued to break bread with him. It is just as much the fault of every member of that church as it is the Pastors.

I've come to the conclusion that christians will say, and do, just about anything.
bamamba - that's a terrible comparison. There IS an accepted standard for spelling and grammar. There is NOT an accepted standard for Christianity. Think before you post.

If spelling does not conform to the professed standards of spelling, why do we say that things are misspelled rather than accepting the failure of spelling?
guns & broads: It's a commentary on the original question. Get a sense of humor.

And with so many professed standards, who gets to decide which is the "official" version?

People are human..they fail. Sometimes people fail miserably. Whether or not they are REAL..is between God and them.
