I believe the Catholics that believe in their heart Jesus is Lord and is their saviour and have received him as saviour are going to heaven. I think the danger is someone says are you saved? and you say "I am Catholic" there is danger in that with any demonination associating yourself with a church does not save you. That's what I believe and it's according to scripture. what bugs me is a lot of Catholics will not rejoice you are saved if you are not Catholic and that is truly something that concerns me. I don't understand it. A church is not your salvation Jesus and what he did for you on the cross is the cause of your salvation. Certainly, Abraham was not a Catholic. Neither were the disciples. and they didn't wear long robes and call themselves cardinals either.

Most non-Catholic Christian denominations accept Catholics as Christians. A very few do not.

The World Council of Churches which brings together more than 340 churches, denominations and church fellowships in over 100 countries and territories throughout the world, representing some 550 million Christians accepts the 1.1 billion Catholics as Christians. http://wcc-coe.org/wcc/who/faq-e.html#07

A dictionary would say that a Christian is someone professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.

Catholics would fit this definition.

In the Nicene creed, from 325 C.E., Catholics profess:

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father.

Through Him all things were made.

For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried.

On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

We truly are spiritually "born again," we just don't usually use those words.

For a complete description of what Catholics believe, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/index.htm

With love in Christ.

Catholics are Christians....
All who believe in their hearts and confess with their mouths that Jesus Christ came in the flesh will be saved.
Christians believe Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, died on Calvary's cross for our sins, was raised to life on the 3rd day, and is coming back for His church -- nothing else matters. Catholics believe this so their Christians.
Hope this helps

Just to add: I'm not Catholic - I'm a nondenominational Christian

similar to the Muslims the shites' and Sunny's who regard each other with suspicion
of cause we are Christians' we bloody-well started it ?

Catholics believe in faith with works because, faith with works gives importance to the commandments of Jesus, the Word of God. Catholics does not believe in faith alone because, faith alone does not give any signifance to Jesus' commandments and the laws of heaven.

The Catholic Chruch is a Christian church and it is the FIRST Christian Church in the world.

It is impossible to give a universal statement on the salvation of all members of any denomination of Christianity. Not ALL Baptists are saved. Not ALL Presbyterians are saved. Not ALL Lutherans are saved. Salvation is determined by personal faith in Jesus alone for salvation, not by titles or denominational identification. Despite the unbiblical beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church, there are genuine believers who attend Roman Catholic churches. There are many Roman Catholics who have genuinely placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. However, these Catholic Christians are believers despite what the Catholic Church teaches, not because of what it teaches. To varying degrees, the Catholic Church teaches from the Bible and points people to Jesus Christ as the Savior. As a result, people are sometimes saved in Catholic churches.

First of all they believe as they do out of ignorance. There is ignorance of Christ's Church and the Protestant faith is full of heresies and false teaching often based around the hatred of the Church and an acceptance of Christ's promises to His Church. The Catholic Church is the only true biblical Church and the non-Catholic churches resent this fact of Scriptures.

I fear that some Catholics do not beleive that salvation comes through faith, and that to be saved one must complete specific works to earn salvation. I'm not saying all do, but I do believe that some do.

Eph. 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
