ok, so were doing a socials presntation on monday
and i stutter, latley ive been doing it more often
its going to be a 5 minute presentation but its gonna feel like a hour,
so im wondering..
should i not come to school or do it?
when i do present i get really nervous and start shivering like crazy,
and there are some pretty rude people @ school
im in grade 10
the teacher is aware of the problem, but he still makes me try
and if i do call in sick, i dont want my partner to get mad
most of my friends already know that i stutter, but some dont

Unfortunately, this isn't something you can avoid forever. You are going to have to face this fear sooner or later. I'd be surprised if the teacher didn't make you present your speech on the next day you came in.

Chill Im a sophmore too and first of all we dont usually pay attention to presentations in class anyway..but seriously if you think your stuttering is a problem maybe you could see a speech thereapist , they are like supposed to have them in schools and no you shouldnt cut it will probably just bring your grade lower just think about its 5 mins and see if you can alternate the oral "speeches" with your partners so youll have to do less talking. Good Luck =]

Hey my best friend for like the last 3 years stuttered it acctually got me stuttering now and then i toon in in out on it what i do is when i start to stutter i stop talking and count back from 5 to 0 in my head (quickly if need) it gives you a mental break from any stress and by the time you reach 0 you loose your spot loosing your spot takes others attentions off of your stuttering and on to the fact that you slowed down im in the same grade as you. the best advice i can give you is when you start to stutter slow down or stop talking give your self a metal stop focusing oun counting backwords gives you that mental block to help you stop.

RELAX i hope this hellped you out..

ask the teacher if you could present, but after class and only to him. if you have to have a parent write a note. this is a physical problem, and should not be ignored by the teacher if it is making you uncomfortable.

Try to do the shortest presentation possible but do it. Do not shrink from this opportunity to prove to yourself you can get better and better. The heck with what the classmates think...tell them to .......bite air
