Here is a direct copy of what some churches are saying:
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice."
Aren't you glad that the holy role of Satan is coming out, and he is no longer being villified by fanatical fundamentalists?

Actually, satan means adversary. In the Bible, he's called the father of lies, and a murderer.

God uses what the devil does, turns it around for good. But do not mistake the evil of the devil for tough love, or just challenging. He's not trying to "challenge" the children of God, he's trying to destroy them.

In some churches, Satan is analogous with Lucifer (the "shining one" or "bringer of light"), who was in turn inspired by the Greek god Prometheus. In Greek mythology, Prometheus defied the elder god Zeus brought fire (symbolic of knowledge) to humans.

Says a lot about Christianity, doesn't it?

Satan = adversary.

What he intends for evil, God will ultimately use to create a greater Good.

No I'm not Glad
His role is not Holy
And if no one believes in casting out demons and commanding satan to flee in Jesus' name there will be a lot more problems than you are actually ready for.

I do not exactly agree with you, but I do believe that many are too focused on the devil. God will protect us from the devil if we pray and do good works.
