If you are 17, then you may well be able to move in with your Grandmother, Call A Teen hot line, and perhaps they can put you in touch with someone who can give you a definitive answer.

I don't know about California, but in Georgia you have to go before a judge and be emancipated. This means you have to prove you have a place to live and a job to support yourself and tell the judge why you wish to not live with your mother anymore. Good luck. We went through this with my stepson. It was horrendous and cost lots of money, but in the end worth every cent. I'm sure you could get a friend of the court attorney. Check with child services in your county.

You can make a free choice at 18 most places.
You may need Mom's permission right now.
If that's an issue, you can go to Family Court.

I am pretty sure you can, you can legally move out of your house when you turn 17, without your parent calling the cops.

it depends if your mom gave grandma full custody ...
i think the law is 18..
go to social service they can help.
and talk to your school councler
