They say she is fine and not going blind, they dont care about her at all, i cant believe them, they are so irresponsible and i have said that to them, so what are the other signs of cataracts? maybe if she has more signs they will take her to the vet, plus the vet called like 3 months ago saying she is overdue for her shots, and they are too lazy to take her cause she's an inside dog and wouldnt get rabies or anyhting, again i cant belive how irresponsible they are, they should not own a dog, good thing im takin her with me when i move out, btw, im 16 and i dont have a job, so no money.

Dont treat me like i shouldnt get a dog, we arent some hick family that cant handle a dog, she eats expensive food, and we live in a good neighborhoods, my parents just say that dogs are dogs and she's fine, her eyes dont really look like anything but black if you dont look closely plus it could have been the lighting where i was looking at her

dude shooey loey, my parents got this dog when i was 7 yrs old, parents usually pay for vets, i dont even have a car or license, its their responsibility, im not shirking my responsibility's, its THEIRS, well im 16 on friday, and i doubt when u were a kid u drove to the vet that was 15 miles away, and u payed for all the bills, i didnt even buy the dog, so i dont know where u live, and the kid with the boxer like u said, his parents pay for the vet bills, and what are you talking about? i take care of, her clean her feed her, take her for walks, and all of that, and i'd like u to show me one kid that pays for the FAMILYS dog vet bills, if she did have cataracts the surgery would cost well over 2000 dollars.

Actually, I CARRIED my dog to the vet when I was 13 because it I thought it had been hit by a car. Considering that the town I grew up in has a population of 150 and the sheriff was our only law enforcement (45 minutes away) that should tell you something. I suggest you get an after school job and step up to the plate. If your parents aren't going to provide necessary care then you need to. Check your state laws, some states have made it a crime to neglect shots/medical treatment. Just because she is an inside dog does NOT protect her against rabies. Speak to a relative or friend who has a vehicle and see if they'll transport if you pay part of the gas.

Well you're a minor so I understand it's going to be tough for you to get your parents up off their butts.

Can you try getting a part-time job? Mow lawns or babysit? Have a paper route?

Tell your parents that it is your dog's RIGHT by LAW to receive proper care and to deny it is abuse. Financial responsibility is part of pet ownership and your dog needs at least one yearly checkup and one yearly teeth cleaning. Your parents may be financially stressed even though they try to "put on the dog" for the neighbors. Give them this information:

www.carecredit.com or www.imom.org

This will enable the vet to get paid, your dog to get the care needed, and your parents to make monthly payments.

And now that you know your parents are not very responsible people, you will know to tell them not to get any more animals, won't you? At least you are trying! Good for you.

Try getting an aunt or uncle to help talk with your parents. Signs of going blind are:
- running into things
- not looking at you when you call his name
- an a couple others.
With irresponsible parents like these, you should get an aunt or uncle to help you.
Try to find a job or somthing.

I would give the dog up for adoption. Someone else would care alot more about the poor dog. And don't get another dog!
