Okay, so I went shopping for a formal dress wth my grandma a few weeks ago for my 16th B-day. It's long, black, flowy, a few little flowers down the side. Very pretty. My grandma was raving about it.

The thing is, it's strapless. It does not show cleavage or anything, just my shoulders and upper back. It doesn't look sexual to me, and my grandma and both of my parents aproved that it was indeed modest. It has a tight elastic and doesn't feel like it's going to fall down.

But, I am a christian, and don't want to tempt my guyfriends who are struggling with lust to sin. I personaly don't think my shoulders and upper back is very sexual, just one of the more atractive parts of my body, but I'm not a guy, so I don't know if they struggle in their minds when they see a strapless dress or not. I've heard that some do.

Please tell me, guys, if you would struggle at all by seeing a average, kinda slender, not esspecialy well-endowed girl in a strapless dress.

To give you more info: Guys being atracted by me I don't mind. I mean I don't want to wear something that will draw attention to parts I want covered.

And my grandma... She has tried persuading me to wear strong bikinis and told my mom while she was a teenager that she should flirt more... So she's not your evey day grandma.

And my guyfriends are really awesome people that unlike most guys get embarrassed and turn their heads at the sight of a bust baring girl, not gawk like most guys.

Some of you are acting as if i thik i should wear a bag over my head or something, not that at all. I just have lots of guyfriends that are really trying to live pure lives and I don't want to embarrass them. Just like I would feel uncomfortable if they like went to school shirtless or something. I just want honest opinions on what dresses guys think as merely nice and very attractive looking and what dresses look really sexy. (Which I don't want to be.)

"Edge" hit the nail on the head. A guy who is going to be tempted is going to "struggle" whatever you're wearing. In fact it is never a matter of how much you're exposing as much as it is how attractive you are. For example, that shawl over the shoulders that Red Queen suggested would certainly cover skin, but would make any guy with even the least amount of good taste more attracted/tempted, not less.

Don't believe all that Brittany Spears nonsense about bare midriffs provoking male hormones. We were plenty hormone-driven back in the 1970s when I was in high school and the girls were covered from the neck to the knees, and you can be certain that male hormones ran rampant in Victorian England when the neck and the ankles were covered as well.

Obviously, I'm not a guy, but I've raised three sons so I have some experience here. Some men (OK, a lot of men) find a woman's shoulders to be very sensual. If this concerns you, simply drape a lovely black shawl over your shoulders in order to cover up. You will then be dressed more modestly, and it will not detract at all from your dress, which sounds as if it is quite beautiful.

If you think it is not apporpriate then don't wear it sdolect boys are naturaly a bunch of horndogs to start out with it is part of the chemical sourge...with the hormones on overdrive you could be in a burka and they would have thoughts of taking it off....
I'm not saying go in slut weare just pick what you feel is good to wear and not to revealing.

First I want to say it is not nice to remind me how long it has been since I was a 16 year old boy. Second from what I remember from my teen years you could be covered head to toe and I could still probably find something to tempt me. From what I remember teenage guys are one big bag of hormones. That being said from what you say I think it would be appropriate.

No that dress sounds fine. The fact that you are concerned is a comfort because into days world that is virtually unheard of. Thank you so much for not wanting to be a stumbling block. What you are doing is just fine.

Sorry to tell you this, but you are dealing with 16-18 year old boys. Seeing a girl at all makes them struggle with their ethics----pack a baseball bat and a strong metal chastity belt!!

EVERYTHING turns on boys that age. That's just the way it is. I wouldn't worry about it. Odds are, any other outfit would turn him on as well. If you are self conscious, just put some type of wrap over your shoulders.

Do you wear a bathing suit?

I'm sure it shows way more than this dress. If you're comfortable with its modesty and your parents are, I'm sure its fine and your friends will survive :)

If your clothes are hip-hugging or tight, you ARE tempting men. Loose fitting clothes that shows as little as possible is best.

GOD bless
