I have a friend and she's an illegal alien (mexican). She's living at San Francisco and wants to travel by Plane to Los Angeles to visit a friend but she's scared to travel by plane coz she might get deported... She will only use her Valid Mexican Passport as indentification during boarding (as they dont have CA I.D.) is this ok? i told her i think its safe to travel by plane as long as its inside the USA or domestic flights only and NOT international flights, am i right? HELP PLS, DO YOU HAVE ANY FRIENDS WHO TRAVEL WITHIN THE USA ONLY EVEN W/O LEGAL PAPERS??? Based on Experience is the best advise you can give me. Thank you

If her Mexican passport is valid, then she should be fine. They will probably just assume that she is visiting from Mexico or that she immigrated legally but has not applied for citizenship. However, there's certainly a risk she could get caught and deported.

Maybe she should go back to Mexico, then re-enter the U.S. legally and apply for citizneship. That way this wouldn't even be a problem.

They can not ask you for ID. You merely have to state that you are flying as a "selectee". Their ability to ask for ID is to assure the safety of the plane and other fliers. If you fly as a selectee, you get to be accompanied by guards who will hand - wand you and put your hands through some machine to make sure you haven't touched explosives. My husband refuses to show ID. We have flown from Chicago- LAX recently. MY DH has refused to show ID every time, and, just additional security.

There is a whole movement to not show ID because of our Constitutional right to move freely from state to state. Please read the below link.

*edit* Call the airline and tell them that you don't have your ID. United told me that they deal with people all of the time that don't have ID because of it being lost or stolen on vacation. This isn't a big deal. Lots of people choose not to show ID. It has never been a problem for my husband. EVER. It shouldn't be a problem for her. They will look through her luggage by hand. THat is it. I am correct. It bothers me all of these people saying you can't fly without ID. SImply incorrect. We have flown 6 times since 9-11. You DONT HAVE TO SHOW ID

If she has a valid Mexican passport with the correct stamps, and /or a drivers license then she is OK, else adios. If ICE is doing spot checks at the airport, adios.

The TSA is using data mining techniques to do a profile of each and every airline passenger. There's a chance she'll be detained. Tell her to take a Greyhound.

As of 9-11 you will have either have the proper ID or you will not fly.

It's less than a 5 hour trip by car...if she don't get pulled over for speeding, she won't have to deal with any law enforcement.

Not that any of them really care.

No reason to make the trip by plane, you can drive it in less than a day.

But, really, the only trip she should be planning is one back to Mexico, so she can start the process of entering legally.
