Hey = )
For what you should eat, is nothing too much, have something healthy and small.
For what you should wear,
If you have them Spandex Shorts, like skin tight, or shorts that wont get in the way. A t-shirt or tank top that you can move around in easily. Knee pads, these things will save your life! Trust me!
Don't forget running shoes with decent grip

Coaches look for a good team player that has good ball sense and has a good pass serve and a lot of communication. They look for someone that is supportive and can take a bit of criticism. And they look for high spirits and someone that is supportive. Be confident!

A few tips!
okay you might be nervous, but don't let that get to you! Put a big smile on your face and take the whole this seriously, and take your time like don't be all over the court, then things just get stressed out and fast moving and out of control. Take your time when going up for your spike approach.
Good luck and i hope that this helps! = )

1. I would NOT suggest any diet change the day before a tryout. Tryouts are typically not that demanding and involve a lot of standing around. To become an elite athlete at any age a proper diet is suggested and recommended by all in the know. I would eat lightly but adequately and DO NOT calorie load. Eat power food, food that will fuel your body. Carbs are the way to go so you don't burn lean muscle mass. As with any athletic endeavor pre-hydrate starting the night before and continue taking fluids throughout the entire day.

2. I would suggest proper volleyball attire to include tight shorts that will not interfere with you passing close balls and a snug shirt that should be tucked in for the same reason. It is not pleasant to hook your thumbs on loose clothing, you only need that lesson once. Learn from experience. **What not to wear** Jewelry of any kind. If you have a medical condition and need a life-alert badge, make sure you tape it down. My suggestion is to always make your coach aware of your condition but ALWAYS wear your tag during tryouts, just in case.

3. The very first thing I look for are your eyes. While I'm talking I absolutely need your undivided attention. Next I look at hustle, current skill level, potential upside, dedication, and commitment. Ask questions if you don't know or understand. That will let the coach know you want to do it right. There are other things that will stick out too. Be yourself, you may be a natural leader, and not even know it. Relax and do your best!

4. Volleyball at a competitive level is a very fast game. Use your eyes first, mouth second, feet third, and arms/hands last. Be aggressive and make that ball your ball. Call it loud and go after it. Beat the ball to the spot square your shoulders to the setter and have fun!

haha wow, i just had 2 tryouts yesterday. I am 15 and a sophmore and tried out for South Bay and Beach Cities for the 16s team. I made both teams, and really u dont have to worry. I just ate a quesadilla an hour b4 the practice. Just eat something pretty light but not too much to be a lead weight. And just wear what you usually wear, i mean spandex and a black shirt is what people usually do. But if you really want to be recognized, you can do what this one girl did and wear cheetah print spandex just so the coaches remember you hahaha. Ok and the coaches usually just look for a loud, confident and friendly girl who can play all around as a passer, hitter, server and blocker. But it partly depends on your position too. The only thing is make sure you have fun, be kind, try your hardest, be sociable, and be out there! Good luck, you'll do fine.

You should eat a meal with high calories(like Spaghetti) the night before, but not a lot before the tryouts. I'm not sure why, but it works. You should wear a tank top or something form fitting and NOT loose. You could wear mesh shorts or spandex but shorts should also be fitting. Coaches look for players that are excited, awake, work hard, hustle, team player, leader, etc. Some tips are be loud when calling the ball so everyone knows it's yours. Also, you could just do your technique before going to bed, before tryouts, etc.(without the ball) You should smile so they know you want to be there, and last: do your best. Hope I helped and have a great day! Good Luck!

1) throughout the day make sure you stay away from junk food, eat protein, and breakfast and lunch, don't eat before practice or you won't perform well.
2) Wear shorts, they can be mid thigh or at the knee level, whatever you are comfortable, wearing spandex under them is always more comfortable, wear a sports bra and a T-shirt, not a tank-top or ones that hug your body
3) The coach, on tryouts will most likely look for someone that even if they don't really know what they are doing, they are determined and hard working, they WANT to learn how to perform well
4) Passing is the most important part of volleyball, it sets up for a good set and good kill. when you're passing spread your legs at least shoulder width apart and bend your knees putting your butt down, this will hburn at first if you're not used to it, but it'll get easier. put your arms out in front of you and make a fist with your right hand, (with the thumb on top or your index finger) and wrap your left hand around your right fist. both of your thumbs should be parallel. put your arms together so your thumbs stay on top but the inside or your elbow faces up. point your thumbs to the floor, flattening your arms, creating a better passing surface. shrug your shoulders as you pass the ball, keeping your thumbs pointed toward the floor and a flat passing surface. While passing keep down, which means keepyour butt down, your legs bent, and your feet apart. square up your hips to the place you want the ball to go, want the ball, be ready, move your feet to where the ball is and pass.....good luck!!!

always be confident because the coach looks at that first. before tryouts try to eat something that will give you NATURAL energy and a lot of water the day before and the day of. you should wear spandex shorts if you already have some. dont go out and but uniforms until you make the team. wear anything cool and flexible. knee pads are beneficial (trust me you will needl them). the coach looks for a good player but they also look for a good sport. always look alive and ready and take criticism and use it to your advantage. be yourself and they'll love you

hey u r at the same state as me. the best thing you can eat is to just avoid eating 2 much of any one thing. wear spandex and a t shirt if u show up at tryouts with a fancy shirt on then coaches lable u as a brat. coaches only pick players who r supportive of others even if u dont know them. they also look at if you take their suggestions to heart or if you just blow them off. Also NEVER roll ur eyes at the coaches thay will kick u off the team. also just try ur hardest if u r not sure ur going to make it just try! try, try, try!if u keep touching the volleyball between seasons and u will be as good as u were during school.

If tryouts are right after school then at lunch you should eat a banana with your lunch to help your muscles from getting cramps. Also you should wear shorts(like nike you can get them at ***** sporting goods) and a tank top. I honestly dont know what the coach looks for but i was on my school team and at tryouts i just relaxed and did my best. i had fun and tryed not to think that it was tryouts and it helpped! Good luck!

you should eat a light snack like fruit(apple, banana) or a smoothie. make sure that you bring a lot of water so you dont get dehydrated
you should wear spandex (asics, underarmor, mizuno, nike) youc an get them at sprts mart or sports cchalet or big 5. or the company websites. or you can just wear comfortable shorts that are easy to move in. you should wear kneepads vooleyball shoes and a loose tshirt. the coaches look for positive attitudes and you have to be loud nd agressive always be listening carefully, try your hardest be loud when you call for the ball and always be ready to get down on the ground aand dig. good luck

I was the same way when I tried out last year and I made it. I ate lunch at school cause it was after school. Bring water and drink lots to keep you hydrated. Coaches look for skills and people who have a good attitude. Cheer people on when they do good. You might want to wear a t shirt a comfy one. And soffee shorts or spandex. Knee pads and of coarse tennis shoes.=).

You will probably do fine.

Good Luck!!
