i am going to give my old computer to my daughter but need to get rid of al my information and all my files how do i do this and can i do this with out hooking it up to the internet >

You can do this without going on line.

If you have the recovery disk, just reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

Or

You can just put all your stuff in the trash can and delete them.

easiers way, put a cd burner in it and burn the cd's


buy a router and do it over the network

buy a crossover cable and do it over the network

take the hard drive out and put it in the new comptuer to copy files.

if you have the windows cd the computer it came with you can get drive scrubber at this link http://iolo.com/ds/3/download.aspx
it will erase every thing, so you will need the windows cd it came with or buy a new one. if you use this choice it is unreverseable but it will erase everything

Boot from the original OS CD and follow the prompts to restore it to its default state.

You could reformat it to it's original settings, that would be the easiest way to do it if you have the master CDs or if your computer can burn the master CDS to reformat it.
