There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing any job that you do honestly. Any one that would be hateful towards someone because of their job is just plain mean spirited.

Any honest work is dignified. If your dad's family is so against your mom doing this kind of work, then they need to pony up the cash to support you both. Otherwise, they don't have a say in this matter.

You should be very proud that your mom wants to work hard to support you.

It's not wrong someone has to do it. Your dad's family might think it's kind of a dead end job because you can't get promoted to a better job and it doesn't pay all that well. However, it's a good job to do part time to pay for college or something like that. It's an honest living and at least she had a job instead of being some unemployed bum. I wouldn't want to do it for a living, but there's nothing wrong with it.

Friend, if your dad's family really holds those feelings, they are the ones with problems.

You and your mom (how does your dad feel about it?) should be proud of doing honest work. I could go on at length, but do believe in the value of the work. Your mom sounds like a great person who knows the right things.

Perhaps there is something else on your dad's family's minds, but please do not ever be ashamed of your mom's efforts. Give her a big hug and tell her "thank you."

Do not listen any honest job can be done with pride, and may be, it is time ( if they upset you to often ) to tell your dad's family that if your dad was earning enough to support you better then your mom will not have to go to any work, but make sure you tell your dad, that you love him and that you are saying those thing just so they stop hurting you and your mom

No, it is a job which pays money and pays bills. Your dad's side of the family needs to find something else to be upset over Or if it bothers them that much tell them to pay your bills and your mom can stay home. Your Dad should step in and tell them to take a step back

NO!

Any legal job that is done to the best of ones ability to make a better life for them and their family is an honorable job.

I tell my daughter what my father always told me. I don't care if you grow up to be a waitress as long as you are happy and if you someday want to own a restaurant that you still enjoy going to work every day.

Your father's family sounds like terrible snobs and you and your mother deserve better and your father should put a stop to it.

As a society, we often rely on misperceptions and old stereotypes to replace common sense.

Personally, I'd rather dig a ditch or clean an apartment than go hungry...

Absolutely not.At least your mom found a legal way to provide for you instead of working the street corners.Especially since it sounds like your mom never had the chance at college. If your dads family starts in again, point out to them that she isn't abusing you,or drugs,or prostituting to make it through. Then tell them how much it hurts you,and if they can no keep their derrogative comments to theirself,to please quit inviting you to their gatherings.

Your dads family has no right to Cristie your mother for hard work. If they were so offended by it, then maybe they should have helped your parents out so she would have had to do that. What wrong is that your father is allowing them to disrespect you guys.
