I'm sorry I did not realize that yahoo answers had segregation rules for who may answer questions.
I thought that this was a free country. It was my understanding that United States of America has something called the First Amendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I have answered this question at least three or four times a day.And the answer is always the same. We have as much right to answer questions as you do.
And this site is for Religion and SPIRITUALITY.
Just because we are atheists does not mean we can't be spiritual. I often get chills down my spine looking at the beautiful colors of Fall. And I can appreciate a gorgeous sunset. And the ocean crashing to shore, is amazing to me.
And I marvel at the wonders of our bodies, and how they reproduce, when I see a newborn child
You don't need god to feel anything.
Nor do I need permission to come to this site.

Because I find religion very interesting.

Atheism by itself may not be a religion, but it certainly has to do with religion, theism and general spirituality. Atheists can be both religious and spiritual, this section isn't called "Religious people who follow the Abrahamic religions only" section.

And even if an atheist doesn't have any real religious and/or spiritual beliefs, they can sure have opinions, knowledge and questions on the subject.

Also, could you please use the search feature next time? This question has been asked literally hundreds of times before. It's definitely good for the drinks, though.

*glug*

EDIT: To "UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!",

Atheism doesn't mean "without religion" it means "without god". I dare you do tell a Buddhist (Buddhism is atheistic) that they're not religious or spiritual. Maybe you should go to the English class? You're obviously the one who needs it.

This is the only place where they can outnumber believers in God. There are very few percentage in the world and being here at R & S they can take up arms in numbers when in the real world they wouldn't have a chance. Many here are not even atheists just warmongers of R & S.

welcome to the united states of A where you cannot hold any presidential office if you admit to being atheist. Turns out that most people get ostracized and some even loose their jobs for admitting to being atheists hence many atheists keep mum about their real convictions and instead express themselves online. This is the same about other groups of people that are not accepted in society, they flourish online.
Despite this, i should add that if you hang around church circles and you are the typical christian or muslim or other religious people that believe in associating with only people of their own religion, then chances that you will meet an atheist in real life is pretty rare

Francine it does sound like you and your bf think there is something wrong with being a gay nerd. Look up popular atheists and then come back and talk to me about your ignoramus bf's thoughts

You have a problem with that? Aren't us the exact people you are trying to convince?

Atheist would be the last person to ask you to hate your god. Basically for us, this omnipotent creature does not exist. You cannot hate a non-existent creature as much as you cannot hate the teenage version of me .... the Mutant Teenage Ninja Turtles.

Many of us Atheists feel attacked by mainstream, conservative Christianity and find the Internet a safe, free-thought friendly place to converse such things as religion, morality, etc. There are more Atheists than you may think.

Last time I saw this question I told the asker it was none of their business. I got a violation for that.I still think it is no ones business if we are here. This is not a christian, muslim only forum. It is insulting that you ask that question. It has been asked many, many times. We have as much right to be here as you do.It's a free country. Let's keep it that way.

Do you think it is right to report me merely for disagreeing with you? I don't. I think that is why these boards exist.

Because it's a question-and-answer site about religion, and we have the right answers. It's that simple.

The great mystery on this site is why so many believers fail to put an "s" on the end of "atheist" when they mean it to be plural. What the heck is going on there?

2007-11-19 12:12:37 · answer #10 · answered by Anonymous · 13 1

The site is religion and spirituality. I know atheists who are spiritual.
Besides, some could be walking the fine line between believing and not. This is where I would rather them be.
