The NIV Study Bible is an excellent choice. The Ryrie Study Bible is also an excellent choice, and it comes in NIV, NASB, and KJV. The NLT is a good easy read.
I prefer the NIV over all.

Cool?
The NLT is easy to read but not as reliable as the KJV in doctrinal matters.

The Pidgeon English version is good fun. In one place Paul refers to himself as a cranky man (sounds reasonable) and in another place we are told that "Joseph, him bugger-up Mary."
(Actually, from memory, I think it's spelt "bagirup" but it means "bugger-up")

I like New King James. It is the closest to actual interpretation and easier to read.
