meet midweek usually just have a Bible study. Sometimes a prayer sheet is passed out and someone prays for a minute or two and that's it. I have visited a lot of churches and I know this is true. I would like to hear from some pastors on this question also if they are on line. People, how can we expect revival in our communities, our country and the world if we don't pray together? Ask your pastor about this if your church is like this. What happened to the days when people would meet in small groups of 2,3, or 4 and pray for 20 minutes or more on Wednesday night? Pastors can teach and preach on Sundays. Wednesday night should be prayer night. Can I get an AMEN?

Yes, John d., there is a place for private prayer, but what about Matthew 18:19,20? (two or three gathered in my name)

Thank you Bamamba and Edge for your answers. It's encouraging to know some people are still praying.

Part of Satan's seven point plan to destroy a Church is to destroy the prayer base. Eliminating the prayer in the Wednesday night service is a key part of that plan. Truth!

Wednesday prayer meetings can be the most important service of the week. The church I attend still has the Wednesday Prayer meeting and it is just a real blessing to the church. We probably have around 2000 every Wednesday show up and it is awesome. I have seen so many answered prayers which tells me that God is listening and blessing us.

My church still has Wednesday night services. We do have a Bible study but it is on Thursday. We also do a 24 hour prayer vigil on Friday nights. From 6 pm Friday until 6 pm Saturday someone is at church every hour praying. I think the reason why so many churches are stopping services is because we are in the great falling away.

Some churches have moved away from Wednesday night meetings of the church body in favor of small group ministries, where groups of 10 to 20 meet in someone's home for Bible study, discussion, and prayer. It's more of a fellowship approach, and it works well for a lot of people. Small groups often draw members who wouldn't attend a regular church service, so they're a good evangelism tool.

I was very involved as prayer ministry leader of my church a few years, and then something happened to caused me to resign- due to the fact the new pastor did not want prayer meetings, then we left the church, and we have returned and the new pastor, and exec pastor are very much into wanting prayer to become central to what we do- it takes time, however i know that one day that prayer meeting will be the most important time of the week. Satan does not want us to pray in power. Pray that God ignites the hearts of leaders. You get a HUGE AMEN!!

I attend a Baptist church, and various staff members are there seven days a week. There are several ministries that operate practically every night of the week and the church is ALWAYS open to anyone who needs help. Worship services are also held at three different times on Sunday so that there are ample opportunities to gather in worship.

My Church has Mass, recitation of the Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration, singing of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and Benediction and Compline every Wednesday night.

my church still has it
prayer and worship.
I think the problem is just getting people to come out. When u work u use that as an excuse sometime ( i know i do) I just have to stop being selfish and praise God more than one day a week. ( i do worship throughout the week but its good to be surrounded by other people)
