how to take out xterra seats?

ive got a nissan xterra 2002 xe... i was trying to figure out how to lay down my middle seats completely flat or take them out all together... i know how to pull the lever and make them bend, but they wont go all the way...

any ideas?

After removing the seat bottoms the back should lay nearly flat. They pull up easily just store them in a dry clean place or large plastic bag.
