Yes, they will charge you fees just for having the account. If you don't plan on using it, call them and cancel it immediately- and be sure to get a confirmation number and the operator number of the person you spoke with. Then wait a few days and call them again just to be sure they did what you asked.

If the card has an annual fee, you may be charged, otherwise you shouldn't be charged anything. In fact, if you use it, but pay in full before the statement payment is due, you shouldn't have to pay any interest, either.

Please find a good website like about.com and learn more about credit cards. Anyone who has one should be thoroughly savvy on how they work. This is important.

If you don't want to be charged when you don't use a card try a prepaid card. I just cut up most of my credit cardss and got a bopo card so I only get charged if I use it and can only spend what I have.
I totally agree that having a credit card is a big responsibility and its so easy to get in trouble with one... and I did! big time... So now I manage my money with my prepaid card.
Hope this helps

Read your account agreement or call customer service. If you agreed to an annual fee, you will be charged. Knowing it's from Capital One doesn't help. They have some fee cards and some no-fee cards out there.

Well if you have a balance on the card you will be charged interest and will have to make monthly payments. If you have no balance on your card then they will not charge you unless you have an annual fee. If you have an annual fee they will charge you weather you use it or not. Check if your hard has an annual fee.
