What needs to happen? What needs to take place? What is the power of God's relationship with the Holy Spirit? What is being filled with the Holy Spirit of God? What is the purpose? How can God use an individual? I doubt any of you understand what I mean or can even comprehend the goal which I hope to achieve; but what are you thoughts anyway?

you get the power of God the same way you get anything from him... call upon him. Think about the story of the old lady and the judge... or the neighbor trying to get bread. For much importunity did these give in, and they were mere humans. How much more will our Father give us his Spirit when we ask, being the perfect loving father. The relationship with God's power and God's Holy Spirit is that the Holy Spirit seems to be the agent by which God gives life to his work. He breathed into Adam and he became a living soul. The word spirit means Breath. When we are born again, we are baptized with the Spirit. To be filled with the spirit is to be filled with the vitalizing power of God. Being filled with the Spirit is a command. It's somethng that we do by crucifying our flesh. When the flesh lives well, the Spirit cannot. They are opposites. The purpose of being filled with the Holy Ghost is to be able to live according to God's will. You will exhibit the fruits of the spirit (love, joy, peace, etc). You will be able to do the works that God has ordained for you to do (Eph 2). God can use an indevidual however he purposes to. That indevidual may not even realize he is being used (pharoe during moses' time).

Depart from sin and pray God be gracious to cleanse and sanctify you.

It is experimental and the Puritans are masters of experimental religion.

There need to be a true change of heart, from a heart of stone to a heart of flesh. A truly converted person, then may have power with God and men.

Filling and withdrawal of the blessed Holy Spirit may happen, when a man departs from sin and is washed and sanctified by the Word of God. However, if he sins, there is quenching and withdrawal of the blessed Holy Spirit.....

thus .............as the Apostle John said...........1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know Him,..............

IT IS EXPERIMENTAL RELIGION.

To have the power of God is to have the Holy Ghost. When we get the HG we have the pwer of God within us. When we get the HG we will speak w/ other tongues as God gives the utterance. It indicates regeneration and new life have begun in Christ. Getting the HG means"birth of the spirit". The purpose is to give us boldness to witness, power to accomplish mighty works in Jesus' name. The believer's witness/proclamation will be effective w/ the HG.The presence, glory, and works of Jesus are present w/ his people. Signs of authenticity: prophetic utterances/praise,enhanced sensitivity to sin that grieves the HG,greater seeking after righteousness, deeper awareness of judgement of God against all that is ungodly, a life glorifying Jesus, new visions, manifestations of the various gifts of the HG, greater desire to pray/intercede, deeper love/understanding of God's Word, and finally an increased awareness that God truly is our Heavenly Father. Sorry for the sermon. I wanted to be sure I thoroughly answered your questions. P.S.- We sustain it by prayer, witnessing, worshipping in the spirit, and living a sanctified life.
