When do girl kittens get their first period??

Question

I have heard that you can desex your kitty at 6 months old. However just wondering when girl kitty's get their first period!!

Can someone please explain what a cat on heat is? Sorry but i have no idea and want to know what to expect. When she gets desexed does that mean she will not be on heat anymore. Also, does that mean that i shouldn't let her outside until she is desexed as i don't want her to have kittens.

Hi there...between 5-7 months is the average female cats will come into heat--sometimes as young as 4 months young.

Females get their first heat cycle at about 6 month old. You can have her spayed as early as 3 months old. It'll save her from going into heat as well as decrease her risk of uterine (because it is removed) and breast cancers. Some people think that they should have a litter of kittens before being spayed, but that's just not true.

My cat went into heat at about 5 months old, she drove me nuts. She would get into everything and climb on things and constantly cry and lay on the floor and go in circles. She didnt know what to do with herself. If you dont want any kittens dont let her outside until you get her fixed.
