Like everyone else said it is probably sign of infection. Ask your doctor. It could be something simple like a cold or virus. Your level is not far out of normal. Also, one part of blood count (WBC) is not enough to diagnose anything. They would have to look at the differential and other labs to get more specific answers

11.8 is not an excessively high reading for WBC. If you were 13 or higher, that would be worrisome for a bad infection. As it is, your count could be elevated due to a low level viral or bacterial infection, or urinary tract infection or due to dehydration. You don't have cancer. Usually, people with leukemia have astronomically high or low WBC counts, and many abnormal cells call blastocytes.
You don't mention whether you suffer from hyper or hypo thyroid, and that makes a difference as to your metabolism, but generally does not affect WBC counts.

High wbc's just means you have an infection somehwere. It could be a UTI or a cold or something else. Perhaps you have a cut that is infected. White blood cells are what fights off infection.

Ask your doctor what the real meaning of it is. He is the only one who would know.
