I think it is an excellent example of someone who does not understand imagery, metaphors, and figurative vs literal writings.
Try to keep in mind that the educational level of the people who first read these passages was quite primitive compared to today's level of understanding. So metaphors and imagery are used quite liberally in order to convey the key messages, not quibble about the what is meant by the "four corners of the earth" etc.
The Bible itself tells us that Satan (and his agents) are very good at quoting scripture out of context in order to achieve his goals.

Here's one for you...pertaining to the remark about the earth rotating and the sun standing still....what is the scientific proof that the earth rotates? Just curious...I have a biology degree and was brought up 'knowing' that the earth moves around the sun and have been reading some VERY interesting stuff about how there have been countless experiments to prove the earth rotates but not one has been able to prove this. Just some food for thought. I'm still researching these claims. Also some experiments that were done in 1870's and 1880's that did prove that the earth is standing still. Can't wait to read about those, if I can even find anything on them =)
