I'm getting my first pair of glasses tomorrow. The doctor told me that I'm nearsighted, but she never mentioned contacts. Is there any reason why I wouldn't be able to get them? What are the best kind from your experience?

Today just about everyone can wear contact lenses, and there are more healthful and convenient contact lens options than ever before. Contact lenses are used to correct the same conditions that eyeglasses correct. For all details, information and remedies about contacts check out http://use-contactlens.blogspot.com/

I have worn glasses since I was 9. I was not able to get contacts until i was 11. I hated it. It depends on your eyes. I am also nearsighted. I think it truly depends on the situation. It was so long ago I cannot remember the reason why I could not get them. I am 28 now and I wear both glasses and contacts. I use Acuvue Advance with Hydraclear. Your doctor will determine what is best for your eyes. It is a little trial and error when it first comes to contacts. Some contacts work for your eyes and others don't. I have disposables which I change every two weeks. Soft lenses are the best. I used to wear Survue (unsure of spelling), I used them for years but my eyes could no longer tolerate them and the lens became dry all the time. My eye doctor switched me to the acuvue hydraclear and they seem to be working fine so far. I have been using them for about 2-3 years now.
Also the best solution to get is the Baush and Lomb for sensitive eyes. It contains no preservatives and doe snot irritate.
Best of luck :)

I'm nearsighted also with an astigmatism and I wear contacts. As far as why you wouldn't be able to get them would depend on what your doctor had to say. I know that I tried a few different kinds before I settled on Acuvue. Then I purchased them from my doctor's office for awhile until I realised it was much cheaper here http://www.lensforastigmatism.info/ Good luck.

Only your Dr. can inform you about that. So much depends on your prescription, and your age.

It is really difficult to answer a question like this without a lot more info.

Talk about it tomorrow when you pick up your glasses. Your Dr. will be the best one to answer you.
