About six months ago, we got a new office manager in our branch office. I feel like she never does anything in the office to help with our sales, but is quick to pile on the tasks for everyone else!
She'll make us do sales calls after hours, but rarely (if ever) makes her own calls.
Whenever I approach my office manager's desk, she's always idly clicking away on the computer with her chin in her hand, seemingly doing nothing while everyone else is running 90 mph... and she doesn't offer to help!
Today I drove home crying because I was so frustrated...
So how do I approach the branch manager (my boss as well as the office manager's boss) about the situation?

Be honest. Be calm. Make a list of your grievances - make sure you have some kind of evidence especially about the sitting in front of the computer apparently doing nothing.
Also, if you're required to work after hours and are not getting paid for it or not receiving compensation for it in some other way, you should make this known to the branch manager.

Managers are TRAINED not to take on the tasks of thier staff...I can understand your frustration if she's idle much of the day, but if she is idle it will catch up with her, just wait. Or she may have some really dull tasks like reporting and compiling sales data for her manager/boss.

First, I'd keep a journal of what she does and doesn't do. Second, look at her job responsibilities. Is it her responsibilty to make sales? Should you get paid for overtime work? She's still kind of new and may not know all the things she should know.
If it's a real problem, talk to her boss. If it's unresolvable, get another job.

I say go at your leisure if your paid salary. If you get paid hourly use them do your advantage by getting paid overtime. It isn't worth getting frustrated to the point of being upset. If she isn't serious about helping with sales then you shouldn't be either. I'm not saying don't do anything but do your work at your leisure instead of rushing around. If it gets done it gets done. But if it doesn't tomorrow is another day.

Document everything, take photos with your cell phone, record all conversations, and then after you get the proof, go to HER supervisor with any and all the personnel that disagrees with her as well. Each person should document their own problems with her. If you are doing after work calls, THEN YOU ARE ENTITLED TO OVERTIME PAY,(1 1/2 times your regular wage) AND SHOW ALL THE DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS. IF YOU USE YOUR PERSONAL CELL PHONE FOR THIS, SUBMIT A COPY OF THE CHARGES FOR ALL THESE CALLS TO GET COMPENSATED. If this doesn't work with the Head Honcho, then go and get yourself another job and FILE AGAINST THEM WITH WORK COMPENSATIONS THROUGH THE EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT AGENCY!
