I was waiting in the for the bus and this guy was sitting in the bus shelter smokin a black& mild and everyother second he was spitting. Like people want to sit in the bus shelter with him while he spits. I have noticed too that people are spitting anywhere, with no regards for how disgusting that is. Doesn't that spread disease? What is wrong with our society?

Seriously, I think it's disgusting, too. Spitting is a very nasty and rude habit that does indeed increase the possibility of spreading contagious diseases like Tuberculosis and SARS. Hence the reason why spitting on the streets was made illegal around the turn of the century in many cities...and in many places, those laws are STILL on the books btw.
As for spitting as a result of chewing tobacco or snuff....even more GROSS amd socially unacceptable (even in the Western US where it's pretty common)! Back in the old days, at least there were spittoons for that stuff...but nowadays? Nope, they just "hauker" in any old place without caring if the person seeing this action might lose their lunch!
Seems to me that if a person MUST expectorate (spit), they should be private and discreet about it. Either go into the bathroom and do it in a toilet or at least do it in a kleenex, then put that kleenex in the trash can. That would be the courteous and sanitary thing to do. But these days, many people don't even cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze... total lack of consideration if you ask me.

Well, although it is disgusting, it is "OK"... because no one just grabs you and says, "Hey, you spit, now you have to pay this fine." And, even if someone did go out on Spit Patrol, people are in their own little worlds and will continue to do what they want when they want regardless of who thinks what about their behavior.

Actually Spitting in public is against the law. Most city's have a law against it, But it is never in forced. Especially now days you could get AIDS from someones spit.

I know like omg spitting is digusting, If i happen to get flem in my mouth I wait till I get to a private place and then I sptit it out making sure none is watching me
All boys in my school do it and its plain NASTY!
Its NOT ok and someone should make a stand..
It should be be i'm going to be the next black girl president!

most people are in an attitude of " i can do what i want when i want"
and if we all just got out of that primitive grade 1 tone of thinking it would be better and thought more over how does this effect others around me and what can i do to change

i feel the same way but they dont see it just like somkers you dont want to be around them and it can be no somking but they smoke anyway the have noo respect for themselfs or others.
