I'm not talking about port either. I just need either a sweet red (not white zin!) or a "light" red. Thank you.

Try a beajolais. They are meant to be drunk young and are rather light.

My aprent used to drink an Italian wine in the 1980s' called Castelvetro, it has a bit of a fizz and has a light sweetness and is available in larger bottles.

We had it for the 25th wedding anniversary, and I stacked it wrong and lost one bottle when it feel out of the frig, I was up at 1 am mopping the floor, but the house still smeeled like a beverage room??

Check http://www.wines.com/sweet-wines.html
And for some wine selection:

TIP: Sweetness is perceived on the surface of your tongue, specifically the front of your tongue. Try holding your nose when you taste the wine. Can you still taste the sweetness? Then it is truly a sweet wine. Your nose isn't confused by the fruit aromas.
SUGGESTION for sweet tooth: add from 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of sugar to a glass of any decent inexpensive red wine and enjoy a sweet wine.

Most of the sparkling reds are sweeter and lighter in taste. Also try a Sangria or other fruit style wine. Most of these are sweet and light and great for summer afternoon meals.

there is not a truly sweet red...but you might try lighter styles of pinot noir, gamay beuojolais, and shiraz. they are all relatively light in flavor.

also, you could try a big fruity zinfandel as well.
