I'm looking for a caliber that can take down a grizzly bear in 5 or 6 shots and something for concealed carry. Thinking .44 magnum is perfect. Any other ideas? I know a .45 isn't a bad option but i'm looking for something a bit bigger because there are BIG! mothers in my woods! lol

Good luck lugging a .44 magnum around "concealed". Better rely on the loud bang of whatever you're carrying to drive the grizzly off if you insist on using the same pistol for grizzly defense and concealed carry. If you must, then a small .357 mag. revolver?

Perhaps the best choice is to pack something small, like a good 9 mm. with a 15 round magazine and a really slow friend. When the grizzly shows up, run away while firing madly into the air. If the grizzly doesn't run from the noise, at least he'll eat your friend first.

Out in the wilderness, I would NOT go with anything less that .357 Magnum. I would rather the .41 Mag, or the versitile .44 Mag.

If you understand that the two uses are incompatible, your choice seems reasonable. No sensible handgun is enough for stopping large bears, and you'll get tired of lugging around even a 41 magnum, so there's no "perfect" choice, and your compromise is by its very nature going to be a very personal choice.
