I'm in desperate need of ideas about what 8 year olds are into these days as I pulled my cousin in the family grab bag. My aunt's help was that she's into "anything girly" which basically was no help at all. Anyone care to offer me some advice on what their 7/8/9 year old girls are into right now? Any insight would help. Thanks a million!

Try American Girl. The dolls, clothes, and accessories definitely won't fit in your budget, but the books will if you buy them at your local bookstore (such as Barns & Noble). Specifically the American Girls Collection, as these are the historical fiction books. Or you can buy one of the movie adaptations. There are 4: Samantha: An American Girl Holiday, Felicity: An American Girl Adventure, Molly: An American Girl on the Home front, and Kit: An American Girl. I think each DVD is about $15-20.

Anything with Hanna Montana, High School Musical or Cheetah Girls on it. I have a 7 yr old girl and every time we're at any store she can spot something with any of these three things on it a mile away. I'd say you'd be safe to get something with that on it. Good luck and happy holidays!

I have a 10 yo, don't do the play makeup. They don't care if it gets everywhere. Hannah Montana seems to be pretty popular. I like to lean toward educational stuff. Right now, it's reading & math that need to be focused on. Maybe check that out. Also, if it's not a secret, take her shopping, my girl loves that!

High school musical or Hannah Montana
They have: dolls games, cloths, jackets, hats, DVD, Video games, books
You can look at Disney, target, toy's r us, walmart, Macy's, all have Hannah and High school musical
Most girls this age, love Hannah and high school musical
Broad games, like clue and life, if they do not have them
Crafts, making jewelry and stuff
