What if.....

You're wrong about the existence of God?
I don't care about the "if he doesn't prove himself..." junk... what if you are wrong, period?

If I'm wrong, and there is no God, then I just die, and that's the end, I've enjoyed my life as I've lived it with a very, very clear conscience. But if YOU are wrong, you'll spend and eternity in the flames of hell...
Whatcha think?

This is easy..... if atheists are wrong the christians are automatically right? WRONG!!? a flaw in your argument is that it is based on the assumption that the existence and non-existence of the god you currently believe in is equally likely--or at least, that they are of comparable likelihood. If, in fact, the possibility of there being a God is close to zero...you're argument is logically flawed and I strongly recommend you to use your logic instead of your pathetic fear tactics to convince someone.

First of all you exclude other possible gods, the question should be, "what if Thor, Allah, Krishna, the FSM, or the other millions of gods were right?" instead of what if you're wrong...it is an overly vague questions because right and wrong is not a 50-50 split....

and secondly, the belief in God(according to Christianity) is sufficient to get one into heaven is false. Demons believe and are condemned.

Last but not the leastt...how do you know what god thinks, what makes you so sure that we wouldn't value good works more than belief?

I think you hit Tabula's hot button. He jumped on the question too quickly and didn't think or clearly read it because your question did not limit the choice to atheist or Christian. You can almost see him spitting nails in his reply.

He is not using logic or reason (in spite of his claim). It is a very legitimate point to pose. Either he is right and there is no god or he is wrong and there is (of any religion). Your question is not flawed, it just got under his skin so badly he couldn't do much else but rant.

He is also wrong in the Christian belief. It is not belief in God that gets people into heaven, it is salvation, which requires repentance and forgiveness. And did he acknowledge the existence of demons?

Additionally, (from a Christian point of view) we know what God thinks because He told us. It was written down; dictated (for lack of a better term) by God, Himself. And it clearly states that good works will not buy your way into heaven. Good works are the result of salvation, not the means to it.

Since Tabula didn't understand these last two points, you shouldn't expect him to know much about Christianity. That may be part of the problem.
A wise man would acknowledge that before he dismissed religion in general, considering the dire consequences of being wrong, he should investigate it more thoroughly. Tabula's lack of understanding of Christianity indicates that he certianly didn't investigate that religion.
