I personally I knew the color pallet of the world would never be the same after some middle manager at Crayola green-lit the idea for "Burnt Sienna", the color wheel will never recover.
But just last week, I heard a couple in Home Depot that might well be heading for "counseling" after this little exchange.
I had seen them circling the "paint/interiors" section for about 20 minutes, after my shopping and everything else, I just had to check back and noticed that they were still there.
At this point they had 2 attendants in tow, the wife was having problems with trying to get the proper shade of something close to Avocado, the husband rather exasperated at this point (nearly 40 minutes later), after the wife was becoming visibly frustrated at the collective inability to understand exactly what color she wanted.
The husband finally cracked, It almost sounded like he was actually trying to be supportive, I just am very sure that's not how it was received, 'Honey, he doesn't care, it's not like he's going to say...'Oh you mean THAT, that's "Baby **** Green", oh that's right over here...'

Hi Emma,
The strangest colour I've ever heard of is ecru. It's sort of like an eggshell brown colour, with a grey tinge to it.

I was working at a day care and one of the mothers was staying around for awhile to make sure the kid would be fine so to get the kid to get along with the other kids: me, my co-carer, the mother and some of the kids started coloring with Crayola crayons. After awhile the kids abandon us to other toys. But us adults just couldn't stop coloring! Of course you know all the wacky names Crayola have for their crayons and to explain the wackiness the Mother made a joke that namers where all on drugs.
Hence we started making up the most bizarre color names we could think up, the first of her's was: Joint (as in marijuana cigarette) Gray.

Mummy brown.
Also because it was originally actually made from ground up mummies. Not kidding.
"Egyptian mummies were at one time literally available by the truckload. Originally reserved for the upper classes, mummification eventually became popular with the proletariat; by modern times, mummies numbered in the millions. A single burial ground discovered not long ago is thought to contain 10,000. During medieval times they were ground into powder and used as medicine. Later in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, this powder was used as a paint pigment called "mummy brown" (also known as "Egyptian brown"), a practice that persisted, according to some sources, into the early 20th century. Ralph Mayer says that its use was suddenly discontinued in the 19th century when the grisly composition became generally known to artists [The Artist's Handbook, p. 52]. A London colorman informed A. H. Church that he could satisfy the demands of his customers for twenty years from one Egyptian mummy [The Chemistry of Paints and Painting, p. 236]. Ground mummies made a pigment of an undefined organic composition due to the decomposition of the mummy and the various resins that covered them. It was used primarily in watercolor and oil painting techniques."

My girlfriend hates me, because I don't believe in any color that doesn't exist outside of the 12 color crayon box. It used to be 8 color's but I expanded it just for her!
Salmon is a fish, moose is an animal or a really, really tasty desert and Mauve is not a real word.
