no, guinea pigs are very good at cleaning themselves so unless they are very dirty then you really dont need to give them a bath, also make sure you dont get any water in their eyes or ears. and when you do bathe them make sure to get ALL the shampoo out of their fur and let them completely dry before putting them back in their cage

When I had guinea pigs, I gave mine a bath about once every other month. I would bathe them with kitten shampoo, dry them really well with a towel, and since they were long haired, I would put the blow dryer on the cooler setting and dry them.
I also groomed mine with a cat comb once a week keep their fur from getting matted, and when I needed to, I would trim their nails with a cat clippers.
Good Luck! I Loved having guinea pigs!

Yes yes yes! It is a wonderful idea to bath guinea pigs! I currently have 3, but I have had 6 all together! Make sure you do it indoors, with warm water! At you pet store, you can find guinea piug shampoo, lather this on him, make sure you rinse all the soap off, and dry him with a towel before you put him back in his cage!

Only if and when needed. If you do then you need to make sure you get guinea pig shampoo and conditioner (do not use your own) also do not get it in the eyes or ears. Make sure you thoroughly dry him/her before even thinking about putting it outside. One more thing, G Pigs are very very social creatures who need lots of attention, it would be worth thinking about getting 2 g pigs instead of one. Loneliness in g pigs can effect their health. I really hope you have fun with it and enjoy being responsible for it.

and finally congratulations on finding out about it before you get it!

No, you don't have to bathe them. Rodents and Cavies do not bathe in the wild, they clean themselves.

The hair around the backside may get a little matted , so you may have to do a little washing.

Clear warm water, towel dry. Keep them warm till the fur is dry.

I had two, they are the best pets in the world.

I gave mine a bath and she didnt really like it. So hold on to her tight! Dont get the water in her ears, and i used a washcloth on her face with just water no soap. I used johnson&johnson baby shampoo for mine and it worked, but they might have a better a pet shampoo. They can get smelly so I would clean out the cage once a week. Mine liked to play with shredded newspaper and bury herself in it. Good Luck!

You don't have to, and it's really not needed unless their hair gets soiled. Keeping the cage clean will prevent this. If necessary, a small dish pan of shallow warm water and a baby shampoo that is made for cats is fine to use. Rinse well and avoid chills.

NO!!!! They can catch a cold and die from it! If you must give a guinea pig a bath, use a damp cloth and wipe it gently. Treat it like a horse, you need to cool it! Dry off the guinea pig as best as you can! I just dont recommed it
