I mean, when he told Moses "I am what I am", I can't help thinking that Popeye's mantra "I am what I am , and I aint no more" can't be merely coincidence, can it?

popeye embodies all the good God wants us to be. he is selfless, loyal, determined, health minded, peace-full until action must be taken, has massive forearms, self sufficient despite his popped eye and smoker's lung, and sings like a raspy voiced angel. there is a little bit of popeye in us all. truly an inspiration to us all.

If the waters of tomorrow were really charted

No, it was Paul who gave rise to Popeye.

1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.

This is a clear cut case of plagiarism.

No doubt about it.

We KNOW the bible came first.

So the salty, pipe chomping, spinach eating hero is a line stealing little swabby.

Big DEAL.

I'm sure God can handle the stress.......

"I AM what I AM" is a sore mistranslation in some Bibles.

A better translation would read "I Shall Prove to be What I Shall Prove to be".

Several translations at a footnote on Exodus 3:14 will say something like this:

"I Will Be What I Will Be" (New Living Translation)

If God had sent Popeye to cleanse our sins instead of Jesus, I bet Christianity would be a lot more popular.
