I have an 1988 Honda Accord. Comes in a stock 60amp alternator. My total system RMS will be around 1500-2000RMS.
I know I need a HO alternator but whats another solution that could work. Remember its an 88' with a stock 60AMP. around 1800RMS

there is no other option...your alternator is your power plant....and a capacitor need POWER to be effective....if you add a capacitor with the stock alternator....then its just gonna make your problem WORST....a HIGH OUTPUT alternator is your ONLY solution

No matter what you do, you will need a better alternator. Capacitors will somewhat work but they will need to be charged no matter what. if your system pulls more amps off the battery than the alternator can keep up with eventually no matter what you do it is going to fry the stock alternator and you will have to replace. Another thing rather than a capacitor look into gel cell batteries they can be mounted in any way you want even upside down and work a little better at keeping the music loud longer.

You could always buy a later model car which has a decent sized alternator. Lets face it, most American cars had 60 amp alternators way back in the sixties when they switched over from the old generator systems. Didn't take them long to realize that 60 amps was puny when you started adding power equipment.

You can do a "big 3" upgrade (www.the12volt.com for details) or get a deep cycle battery.

With that much power you are going to need another alternator, there is no way around it. You can try those other options because they will help you as well.

I see in straightforward terms 3 strategies. a million rebuild the single which you have. 2 replace it with s new one. sell the automobile as is. The smog try shouldn't take long sufficient to kill a thoroughly charged battery. specific a cel is a seen fail yet....

capacitators are the cheap way. and usually least effective.

i was stuck in that type of situation. I bought an amp that basically did a lot for the little power it required.
