Buying Check List
Your new digital camera should have these key features:
• At least a 6MP imaging device for a D-SLR
• At least a 7MP imager for a point-and-shoot
• Optical zoom of 3x, some have 6x...not just a digital zoom
• The highest quality optics
• A large LCD screen; the more pixels doesnt mean the better the quality.6-8 are great unless you want to print garage size images.
• The widest range for aperture (f/stops), shutter speed and ISO
• An AF Illuminator or AF Assist mode for best flash shots in dim light
• A variety of "scene" modes for more convenient shooting in a variety of situations
• Make sure you do your own ergonomic hands-on test
and image stabilizwer if possible.

canon has the a-series..like a710, a720, a520..all a good camera and a good price right now.

try circuitcity.com

All of the major brands are good. Choose a brand that appeals to you. Then you have to think about getting a spare battery, what size memory card, if you want an extended warranty, how much you can afford, what size zoom, if you want manual controls, the size of the camera, finding a reliable place to purchase it, and the list goes on and on and on.......

The first thing to realize is that almost any digital camera will take good pictures. If more people would read the manual more than once, they would be able to take better pictures. Usually, the person assumes it is the camera when it could be them not knowing exactly what to do. Just give yourself more photographic knowledge by doing more reading on the internet.

I really believe buying a camera is an individual choice.
The person needs to read alot of reviews on cameras so they can decide on the features that they really want and need.
Go to the store and hold them so you can see if they feel comfortable in your hands. If possible, take some pictures in the store to check the quality of the pictures.
I can only give a suggestion of what to look for in a new digital camera.
Good Luck

my suggestion
go to yahoo shopping

digital camera GUIDE
be sure to check titles on the left side
the guide should answer your questions

look in best buy's add they always have good deals and they will price match. you need to look for six or more megapixels so you will have the best resolution on a 4x6 picture, also need an iso of 800 or more so you can take good pictures in low light, and last you need image stabilization so you can keep the pictures clear and keep them from being blurry. I myself love Canon because it is a fast camera that can take multiple shots, but play with the ones in the store and see which you like best. Good luck

My personal preferrence is Kodak. They make good cameras, take great pics, software that anyone can use, which makes it easy to upload on to your computer.

I own a V1003. It's around $200 (+/- $30) range. Go to Kodak.com and look at what they have to offer.

An optical zoom, ignore digital zoom and the most megapixels you can afford.
