I am a believer in God and came to that conclusion on my own. You need to reach your own conclusions. What's right for someone else isn't necessarily right for anyone else. Do your own research and make your decision . Don't be pressured by others.

Maybe you're looking for Love in all the wrong places.
Wanting to understand the secrets of the universe and the meaning of life is cool.
If you really want to KNOW GOD, you will have to be humble. God can humble you if that's what you want. Is that what you want? Do you know the horrible sight of your own sin? Can you accept just how repugnant you are to a pure being, to the Living God? Do you think you can just waltz up and say "Hi God!"?
Well, You can. But only because Jesus suffered in your place to clean you ceremonially for a presence with God. Accept that completely, with all your heart, tell others you now have faith in Jesus Christ and your in.
I hope you chose to do it now.

You don't need to pray or do any of that stuff. What you really need to do is search inside yourself and find out what feels right and for that matter, righteous. Remember that religion isn't about believing in God persay, but it is more about doing the right thing so that you feel good inside and aspire to always do the right (or just) things throughout your entire life. You don't have to believe in any formal idea of God to do any of that and you can still feel damn good about yourself and your own belief. I came to an impasse as you did at one time and determined that most formal religions were entirely too hypocritical for me. I do read the bible from time to time (especially when trying to make a point on here..) and I KNOW that when I do good things for people and understand people I did not like before and forgive those who have done me wrong I feel better. My favorite part of the bible is actually Proverbs 1-9. It's about how wisdom is something to be embraced rather than shunned and has a bunch of other lessons I take moral meaning from. I was christened as a Roman Catholic and went to Sunday School at a Baptist church but never picked any of it up.
Also, like monte said, just make up your own mind. It will take some time, but you can do it, everyone can : )
"the best decisions we can make come from weighing all the evidence both physical and spiritual in our lives and coming to our own conclusions"

If you feel like you want to believe in God, spend some time studying different religions. There may be one that speaks more to you, whether it's something Christian based, Jewish, Islam, or maybe some nature-based or Buddhism. Spend some time in various places of worship to see if you "feel" something, and listen to the quiet in your head when there are no distractions around. That's when you'll hear and feel a connection.

Heb 11:6 says "But without faith it is impossible to Please him: for he that cometh to God MUST believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them who diligently seek him." If you are looking for absolute physical proof that God exsists you may not find what you are looking for. However if By faith you seek him you wil absolutely find him. search your own thoughts and feelings about it, God has placed in everyone a desire to know him, those who say they don't have it are simply refusing to acknowledge what is there inside them. Don't get tied up in religion, It's the most destructive thing imaginanble, Religion has killed more people in this world than all other reasons combined. From a true Christian perspective, Religion is Man working to gain some favor or love from God by his own acts or his own righteousness, Faith on the otherhand is trusting in what God has done FOR man by giving his son as a sacrifice for sin, thereby eliminating the sin debt placed on us by Adam. Jesus's work was complete on the cross, he died for mans sins but a dead Jesus couldnt help anyone, therefore he had to rise from the grave in order to ensure eternal salvation for all who trust him. It is in this work that God did that makes Christianity different from EVERY OTHER RELIGION. In No other religion has Thier God done everything required for you to be with him in heaven. Every single religion out there, be it islamic, hindu, buddahism, mormonism, taoism, etc. etc. Has some type of work YOU must perform in order to be with God.
Sorry I wrote so much, I hope it helps tho. I know there will be a lot of people say there is no God , Listen to your heart, open IT up to God and you will see for yourself that it's true.

All you need to do is ask the Lord Jesus to make Himself known to you. Tell him like you are talking to us that you want to know Him.
Get a King James Version Study Bible and read about Jesus.
First read the Gospel of John in the New Testament and then read the other books.

Don't worry about not being christened...THAT, is man made and certainly not of God. "repent, change your ways, and be baptized" is what we are told by jesus. To repent and change, one has to have an appreciation of what it is, they are repenting of and why. And so its important to know and understand the gospel message, correctly. The gospel, is the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. So...we ask, what is, the good news? And what about the kingdom of God? How does it affect me? Gods Word is strong and able to educate us in the way of eternal salvation! try this......www.bibleed.com....its a great start!!!

Believing in God doesn't mean you're religious. (it doesn't?) No, it doesn't. I don't know where people got this line of B.S. but you know how society is. It's okay to learn of different religions, cultures and philosophies. Who knows, maybe you'll learn more than anticipated.
