If so, when did you convert and why? Or have you always been an atheist?

As for those that are not atheists, why do you disagree with these views?

I am pleased with the responses! So far, there has been no criticism and only legitimate reasons! Thanks so much for sticking to the question!

As for those that have been wondering about my view, I am atheist. I realized this about two years ago. For me, science makes a lot more sense when explaining certain occurrences in nature. Also, I can't believe something when I don't experience a genuine feeling.

I personally respect whatever religion you have chosen for yourself, but please, don't try to convert me. I have already chosen for myself.

No. I don't disagree with these views. I believe that everyone must find there own path, even if that path leads them away from the idea of a divinity. I'm not so vain as to believe that my path is the only path. Maybe each one of us is right.

I converted out of Christainity in my early 20s. It was during that time when I also became an atheist. I had to get rid of all the religious garbage I had been fed all my life. Then I had to spend some time studying, thinking, analyzing, reevaluating, and all that good stuff before I decided God is not real.

I'm not an atheist. I've always had strong spiritual faith, and have felt God's presence. I see His miracles every day, and see value and truth in Jesus' words and teachings. Even in the tiniest atom, there's proof of God. How else could there be such wonderful things in nature? In space? Intellectually, I can understand why some people are atheist. Spiritually, but having felt the presence of God and being lucky enough to have been touched divinely through prayer and having prayers answers, I don't understand how someone else couldn't feel His presence. It's an alien thought to me.

I am agnostic so I believe that god exists in some shape or form but i do not claim to know the nature of god... I guess for the most part i agree with atheists that there is no proof of the existence of god but i disagree in that although there is no proof of a god that doesnt mean that god is not possible... all things are possible they just arent probable.

Yes I'm an atheist. My parents raised me as a christian but deep down I was always an atheist because I never truly believed anything that was being said to me.

yes, my parents raised me to believe in whatever I wanted to choose. They taught me about religion and I decided that there was no reason for me to believe in the concept of god or heaven and hell.
I'd convert, and I have an open mind...but to this day I have yet to hear any good reasons why i should.

My parents had their first born die when he was 11. They adopted me 2 years later. I was ready to go, but for some reason I did go home with them for months. The day I got home with them was the exact date of the anniversary of his death. They said I was "gift" from him....even that isn't enough to convince me.

Yes.
I became one about 12 years ago, after about 15 years as an adult, committed, active Christian.
Studying the bible was one of the biggest reasons for my decision, but nothing like the only one.
