Just to clear somethin up, yeah, Christians are not the only ones who believe in GOD, yeah? You get Buddhists, Muslims, Jainists, Hindus, etc. They just have different perceptions. There is only one original creator.
What you actually mean to ask is: If God is in control why does he allow pain to carry on.
And in answer to all your Q's I ask you where is your love for God and have you proven it to Him yet??
You don't even know God to pass judgement
If you and many others knew or understood the basics of God, you wouldn't be asking such a question. You'd be better human beings. You'd have the most love for him knowing where you came from and that simply by being born human he has given you the ability to learn about Him. That's what puts humans above animals, not the false belief that they're menu choices.
God does NOT punish anyone. As you sow so shall you reap. This is actually the meaning of Karma. Same as every action has a reaction. No one is without sin, and that is why we are all here. Some people kill and destroy living beings: human and non-human life forms, then expect forgiveness for it. People have disrespect for Gods' Nature and the Environment and wonder why there is devastation. People bring their own punishment.
If you really are searching for God and if you really want to experience his love then you have to start by qualifying yourself in order to reach the platform of understanding. It's the same as going to kindergarten when you're young, then from primary school, as you get older, going to high school, then university for masters, then phd, and on to more if you wish.
Right now in terms of religion most of the world are in No school to primary school, fighting like children about why God makes people suffer, then which God to follow, and so they never learn about God.
We are all given the ability to choose - the question is How do you know you are making the right choice?
And the answer is: when you can serve Him and love Him without asking for ANYthing in return. And all you want is to keep Him close.
If you can do that little bit truthfully, He will take 10 steps toward you and you will know he has. You'll be content and happy and he will personally take care of you.
I hope this makes sense to you, if you're still confused, I'd be happy to help: omni_signs@yahoo.com.
Take Care!

The concepts of omnipotence and omnibenevolance are actually contradictory IF you also include omnipresence as well (Basically if someone is all-seeing AND all-powerful they cannot be all-loving IF they allow suffering....)
It is for this reason that polytheism actually makes MORE sense than monotheism because there is no single "All-powerful" God that allows suffering to "test the faithful". The Gods in a polytheistic worldview are perhaps equally capricious, BUT if one God or Goddess DOES NOT like you there is almost always a different one who DOES

Christian Believe What The Bible Says;So if Someone Tells You God Is In Control They Are Not Christian;
(1 John 5:19) . . .We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one.

In all honesty (and ironically, honesty is not much appreciated in this so-called religious section), the simplest explanation is usually correct (i.e., Occam's Razor). If there is no god, then everything makes perfect sense. Nobody is torturing anybody. Death happens, suffering happens, and I'm not sure mankind needs any help from some penultimate evil being to display hate. I understand it's tough when you can't blame things that happen on someTHING. As the great philosopher once said, "If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him."

the ones that conquer is the ones who will be concurred themselves
so if you chase evil it will chase you so basically the united states government is back sliding the word there should only be peace and love and no one wants to follow the rules
they want what they want and they want it now
sow a good seed and thou shall have a good harvest
sow a bad seed and thou shall have decay destruction
theres two different seeds in humans good and evil
the flesh is evil basically
the spirit is feeding the correct way
when you give in to something that you know that is wrong your sowing a seed with the flesh
and after time you will be bitter and a demanding person that lacks truth and understanding
god bless you my child
Jerry fine waxhachie Texas
hope you get the point
god wont help those that cant help them self's and we have to stop them from killing people but we wont because oil is what we need to keep the world happy its complected when our government wants something that we cant get we will kill you for it at least that's what i take it as i mean we are aloud to have nuclear technology but other nations cant why cause we say no but maybe there scared of us

see now i think you are right. i dont think it is right that some of the answers have scriptures in it. we didnt get online and see this question to be preached at. like i always say, christians are shoving there religion down peoples throughts! and others say that they believe in what the bible says. well if there are time machines in the future then wouldnt someone go back all the way to when the bible was suposedly writen and change it? how do we know that the bible is true? what if the bible said that sex was wrong. do you think most of us would be here right now? nope!!!! and why would someone want to have faith in a god that throws inocent people into fiery pits? see now im only 12 and im not ever going to have faith in "god", does that mean i deserve to go to hell? no, ive never done anything wrong and im not going to. so why should i be punished? and if people say that god created us all then why wouldnt he make us all christians if he wanted us to be? if he suposedly made us all then why do we have different religions? why would he make someone knowing that they werent gonig to follow him ust so he could watch them be happy and then BAM! throw them into hell? No. I hope this canges some of your ignorent minds into smart ones.
blessed bee

oh honey, have you read the bible. I'm pagan but was raised christian. according to the bible god gave us free will. think Adam and eve in the garden of Eden. he loves us enough to let us choose. he doesn't choose to have some poor girl raped and tortured the sicko that did it chose to. he could take away our free will and make the earth some kind of utopia, but then we'd all just be robots walking around doing what he told us. the wars, the hate, the cruelty that's all us. don't you think a loving god cries every time one of his children are hurt. but just like our parents he let us go to make our own mistakes and to correct them, but he is always there to pick you up if you truly believe. at least that's what the bible says.

God doesn't control the state thh world is in. He doesn't create hate, nor disease, nor suffering, nor death. The entire state of the world, including hate and evil actions, is brought about by MEN, not God nor Satan.
You couldn't have life without death, BTW. Death is not some horrible thing you're supposed to avoid. It is not a punishment, either, because if you've lived a good and moral life, then you have eternal life after your physical body dies.
You really should read up on theology before making asinine "questions" like this, because you look foolish.

I do not understand the 'free will' issue, but human being like to have their own way, without accurately evaluating the conseqences of what they want. Sometimes, we participate in others evil by not doing anything to stop it or leave it for someone else to take care of. Often the evil done by one person will effect several generations (Ex. abuse effects all the people in the family and how they respond to others, even when grown up and have families of their own.) If we know about it, or strongly suspect it, and do nothing, we have facilitated its continuance.
God measures time differently than we do. I believe He was there when my brother was born, and there, also, when he killed himself. I believe God does not test us beyond our endurance, but some people take the easy way out and prematurely end the 'game' for themselves and God allows them to quit trying to endure. Those left behind now have another load to carry because of his actions.
Humans tend to pretend there are no conseqences from what we do, but there are. If I eat too much, I will be overweight and have illness concerning that. If I drink to much, my unborn children will have problems their whole life because of it. There are conseqences for everything we do.
Humans are also better at giving advice then taking it. I may forgive you for something you've done, but you might not forgive yourself. Forgiveness is for the giver, not the receiver. Love is for the giver, not the receiver. and NOTHING about being human is free (without conseqences).

God is in control when we allow Him to be. We have freedom of choice and the torture going on in the world is not of God's doing but of evil humans choosing to ignore God. Evil and hate is the lack of Go
