Actually the economic advantage of the post-Christian west is because of science which to do properly requires a toleration of atheism.
Abortion does seem to help reduce the crime rate by preventing unwanted pregnancy (and unwanted kids are over-represented among criminals) but it wasn't legal for a long time (not that illegality ever really stopped it, although it did make it a lot more dangerous than it is now (although then again, abortion is safer than carrying the baby to term when done in an abortion clinic)).

That's a stretch, but I see where you're coming from. Most western countries have access to natural resources that give them an economic advantage. In some countries like Australia where there is usually a surplus of economic commodities, having a small population is actually a disadvantage and the current politicians are actively encouraging people to multiply, even giving cash bonuses.

Many of the countries in the world, mostly the West, have had legal abortions for years.
When abortion was illegal here, people who could afford it would fly to Sweden or Norway or somewhere overseas and get it done legally and in a hospital.
It is only the U.S. and certain wingnut religious countries who try to control a woman's body.....Only there does the government think they have the right to force a woman to give birth.
Most nations of the world realize that ones body belongs to one.......and not the government.

I suppose it could be a minor part of it, but it's not necessarily that simple. In general, a lower birth rate following a higher birth rate creates a strain as the older generation retires. That's going on in Japan right now.
I doubt it ultimately makes that big of a difference though. Economic growth is less about the workforce size and more resources, education, transparency, etc.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!! Let me get this straight- I could be wrong here, but are you saying- It is ok to abort due to the fact that those who are born would get more? Love and affection from parents would be greater. I AM GOING TO SAY SOMETHING HERE, HOW COULD A PARENT HAVE ANY LOVE OR AFFECTION AT ALL, IF THEY WERE GETTING RID OF THEIR CHILDREN? Yes, they are already children, even if the are unborn in the womb. Have you read Psalm 139 lately? It is not our job to decide who lives or dies. An economic advantage? Look at the cost of abortion per year, and how that industry is prospering- their economy is better. Did you know that 4,000 babies a day are aborted in the USA alone- True statistic. Let us be responsible here. That child that was aborted could be the one that was to cure cancer, or AIDS, or be the best president this country has ever had- who knows? The one that created. him/her- God. Ask God what He thinks about abortion.
AMEN- JeanCommunicates- Sin leads to the downfall of any nation.

No. The economic advantage existed long before legal abortion did.

Well, there's some truth to that, but African countries could have 3 times the abortion rate that the U.S. does and the population would still skyrocket.

no it can't because prior to the 70's abortion was illegal.
if the economic west's advantage came after the 70's then you could argue that, however it is actually beginning to decline.

Better arguement would to look @ crime rates. Not in US...
Look in other countries. Crime rates 20 years after abortion leaglized. Bet you'd find a trend.
