If he saved everything on your drive then try to find
C:\Documents and Settings\your user name and your favorites for Internet Explorer should be there named favorites.

The C:\is the root of the drive that he is supposed to have saved. It will not be the C:\ on his computer of course. Try searching on the word favorites on the external if you have trouble locating it.

Otherwise, you may have lost them.

Good luck.

If you formatted your hard drive then no you don't have a sure fire way of pulling back those files.

there are utilities you can buy that will scan your HDD for deleted files but if those sectors have been written to then they are gone forever.

No. Once a driver is formatted, it's all gone.

No, sorry, the only data left is the stuff you backed up.
