before obtaining an approved tourist visa to the US? Can a US citizen sponser me to visit the US by providing verifyable income to cover all of my expenses while I'm visiting? If not, then is there a minimum amount of money I need to put into a bank account to show them proof I can afford my visit?
thanks

For a tourist visa you are not allowed to earn money in the US. You generally have to have proof of sufficient personal funds to defray your expenses during your visit and proof of funds for your return home.

The most common proof of funds is a credit card or debit card. Cash is also acceptable though not recommended for safety and security reasons. And there are reporting requirements that are a hassle if you're carrying a lot of cash. The preferred method of proof of transportation home is your return ticket.
