I believe the biblical account of Hell describes it as being a place of eternal torture and pain, most of said torture being done through fire, sharp implements, etc. Many christians also claim that part (or even all) of the torture is psychological, and derives from being entirely separated from God, however I don't know if any biblical verses explicitly state this. I'm sure various other religions have their own accounts of what Hell is like, or whether it exists at all (for example, buddhism is one religion that doesn't really have any equivalent of Hell). As for me personally, I think any deity worth the name would be capable of tortures far, far beyond anything we mere humans have ever imagined. Which I suppose makes it a rather good thing that a deity would probably have no good reason to ever send anyone to Hell.

First of all, a person could be an athiest and still believe in heaven and hell. Athiesm is defined as a lack of a belief in a diety, and heaven/hell is not a diety.
I am an agnostic and I believe that heaven and hell are both states of mind/being. They are the two extremes-- complete contentedness, and complete discontent.
So obviously hell wouldn't be all that fun.

Hypothetically, why would god have made me, knowing ahead of time that he would inevitably send me to hell? He is supposed to be a loving god, isn't he?
You may say that we have free will, and that we are responsible for the choices we make, but that cannot be true if god knows everything.
You see, since they say god knows everything, he must also know the future. If he knows the result of every interaction of molecules in the universe, that means that when he initiated the universe, every result was deliberate. Therefore, if he is omniscient, then there is no such thing as free will, and everything that happens is his fault, and he is a cruel and sadistic being... hypothetically speaking...

The bible says that even if you don't believe in god you will still go to heaven if you are a good person, so I would probably end up going to heaven. That's the beauty of being an atheistic person. We don't have to do all the work you have to do, and if we are wrong and god does exist, we'll still go to heaven if we are good people. That being said, I would imagine hell would be just like they say it is, pits of fire, torture, all that stuff.

Well, since it is hypothetical, it would be just like Blue's Tin Top Tavern and Roadhouse out on the Old Fish Hatchery Road on a Saturday night.

Honestly, I don't see it as a place of torment because that would mean Satan is just doing gawd's dirty work and Satan is just too much of a rebel to follow gawd's rules.
So if anything it would be like heaven, but with all the sin you can imagine.
Torturing people for eternity just doesn't make any sense.

Hell would be very hot and painful. The fire would cleanse my soul of unholy sins I have committed all my life. Only through pain and suffering in hell can I be whole again and pure for Christ. I will burn for all eternity.
Oh and there will be gnashing of teeth and wailing.

Some Christians say Hell is just the grave. I mean, even the Christian god can't be horrible enough to punish me in an eternal lake of fire, forever, right?

I am the other atheist.
Hell would be like god---imaginary.
My idea of hell would be an evangelical Christian marrying my son and raising my innocent grandchildren to be stupid.
Or a Muslim teaching my son to be a suicide-bomber.
