My man is not the type who displays emotion very often, if at all. He is very physically affectionate, with lots of hugs and gentle kisses. However, he does not have a romantic bone in his body, as it were. I am very much a romantic, and like to give him little surprises out of the blue - for example, yesterday he let me know he had a bad day at work, so I travelled for over an hour to make sure I could give him a six pack of his favourite beer before he headed home from work. I care about him a lot - he just seems really dense sometimes in that he doesn't think about doing similar things for me. He cares for me in his own way - for example, when I said (in random conversation) that muscled arms turned me on, he started lifting weights to build up his arms. He's been doing it solidly ever since (around 6 months now), and enjoys showing me the results. Because he doesn't do traditionally romantic things for me, does this mean he cares for me any less?

No, it just means he doesn't do those things. If you want them, ask him. Some guys don't view short term gifts (like flowers) as good gifts because they die, they're pretty common ... they want to do something else. So tell him, "I'd really like it if you bought me flowers sometime." Just don't make him feel like you don't appreciate the things he does. (My sister's husband thinks flowers are stupid, so he'll do things for her like clean the house. While she appreciates it, it's not really what she had in mind. They talked about it, and he understands that what means a lot to him doesn't necessarily mean that much to her, and girls like silly gifts like flowers.) Communicate.

no...he just shows his affection differently. every man isnt a helpless romantic!! Those could get quite aggrevating! trust me.
