Everytime I hit enter, there's a line break.
My text that's double spaced has double the line break between paragraphs.
How can I get it so the lines are single spaced?
I've tried changing the line spacing under format, paragraph but that doesn't help it.
What's wrong? How can I fix it?

Select the text. Hit Format-->Paragraph and put zeroes in the Space Before and After boxes.

You might want to change this in your normal.dot file. This article tells you how to edit it:

Here's how to solve your problem:

1. Highlight the line(s) you want to change from double- to single-spaced by clicking and dragging the text pointer from left-to-right.

2. Go to "Format," "Paragraph." It should say '1.5 Lines' or 'Double' under "Line Spacing.

3. Select "Line Spacing" and choose 'Single' in the menu.

4. Click "ok" to close the small window. The space between the two paragraphs should be back to normal.
