Never they need to apply like everyone else did including my wife or be jailed an deported.
80% of Americans support what I am saying. I know in your personal case you are starting the correct legal process so I support you and your efforts to legalize your friend.

Why are you so bent on legalizing the actions which are and were illegal ? What is this amnesty garbage? We had enough amnesty for those who escaped to Canada and New Zealand to escape Veit Nam .A procedure has been recommended but our Do Nothing legislators thought best to sidestep the issue until after the election( to avoid voter confrontation). Ask your Congressman and Senator. Ours from CT don't know which end is up.

If someone has been here for so long they should have been applying for citizienship or permanent residency. There is no excuse to be undocumented. Personally I don't have a problem with people trying to create a better life for their families here that is what the American dream is all about. However if a person has been law abiding they should be given the chance to be legal. Not amnesty, but pay a fine, make sure the taxes they have avoided is paid and they return to their country for at least a year and then get back in the country

No, never. Since when do criminals get a lighter sentence for having a longer criminal career? Can you imagine a judge or jury saying, "Since you've been able to avoid the law and be a burglar for twenty years, we're going to give you probation. If you'd only been a burglar for five years, we would have sent you to jail."
That's the way that I see the idea that those illegals who have broken our laws the longest are the ones who "deserve" amnesty and citizenship. No way, no way.

I think it does a disservice to all those people who waited and entered the country legally. I know a woman from Costa Rica that waited more than two years and came in legally. She told me how upset she is because of all the amnesty talk for those people that didn't. I agree with her and it gave me a different perspective on amnesty for illegals. It isn't right and really disrespects those who have and arewaiting to come in legally.

I am not for amnesty.
Back in 1986, I mistakenly fell for the amnesty idea. The government used all the same emotion-based arguments that we are hearing now. As it turns out, amnesty only made our problem worse.
I don't "THINK" amnesty is a bad idea... I KNOW it's a bad idea because we've already tried it and it didn't work.
It's a written invitation to foreigners, saying, "Please break our immigration laws! We don't enforce them! You'd be stupid to go through the proper channels!"

People don't realize that the people who are given amnesty would have to pay a fee and get back in line behind those whose paper work is already in process. Plus aren't we all immigrants???
I think if someone has been here for 10+ or 15+ years has a stable job, lived at the same residence for 2+ years and has a background check has not committed a crime and has been paying their bills. I am okay with amnesty granted to them. You can't break up families and have children caught in the system.
I am a legal resident of this country. I was able to afford a attorney to take care of all the paper work for me. However many people who are un-documented are not able to afford the fee for even the petition and filings, yet alone hire an attorney.
Majority of the people who do come to this country just want a better life for themselves and their families. Some bring their families some send money back home. Either way these people are trying to feed their families and provide shelter and hope for a better future.
There's a human element to this issue many people don't want to see beyond what they are told by Lou Dobbs or Fox News.
You can't judge someone unless you walk in their shoes......

No, why should you be granted amnesty? I have jumped through hoops to enter this country
I have had police checks, health checks, background checks, educational checks, HIV test, TB test, eye test, 'injection check' to make sure I am up to US standard! I have spent thousands of dollars on green cards and visas around $25,000 so far and still going up!
Why should an illegal by pass all these requirements set out by law because they have yet to be caught be ICE?
The US immigration is a comprehensive policy and it is there for a reason

Right after we give amnesty to every criminal out there.
these people are CRIMINALS. They have ignored our laws, spit in our face and now you want to give them something as precious as US citizenship? What are you going to tell all the people waiting to come here legally? Are you going to refund all the money and sweat to people who came here legally?
Lost in all this sympathy, they work hard pleas, race accustaions etc etc is the simple fact... THEY BROKE OUR LAWS, some of them MANY, MANY times.
The only answer is for them to leave and do it the RIGHT way. I wouldn't feel so strongly if illegals where fighting for their right to be here by sticking up for this country, really making an effort to fit in, learn english and show they are really wanting to be US citizens.
But no. They have only one desire...to make as much money as they can, rape what they can and leave. While here they bash us, take things they are not entitled to, refuse to assimilate, refuse to become an AMERICAN. That alone shows they are not worthy of Amnesty.
