Atheism is usually brought on because traditional religion didn't fill our souls with hope. I gave up on the church because the gospels in the bible continuously throughout the bible preach to love thy neighbor and treat others as you would like to be treated, and OFFICIALS of the church would go around and pretend that gays, muslims, etc. aren't people to love and treat fairly and that sickened me. There is no way I would ever believe EVER that I can get into heaven by persecuting someone for their beliefs or their way of life. I think that if we do good things (not pleasureable, don't get it twisted or twist my words) for others and create understanding and accept others for who they are then we have led a good life and will be rewarded. It even says in the bible I think in proverbs:

"How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowlege? If you had reponded to my rebuke I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you. But since you rejected me when I called an no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke I in turn will laugh at your disaster..."
(not bad for an atheist ; )

This is what i base my life on. Instead of having ignorance and hate, I have understanding and tolerance. Something that most christians/catholics truly (and I mean overall in life) do not have.

in fact, i'm the comparable as you. Agnostic, yet my family contributors's so non secular and my community is basically white and Christian(growing to be up, frequently actual everyone exchange into Catholic or Lutheran). For me to in straightforward terms outright say "i do no longer think in God" or maybe say "i don't understand if God exists or no longer" is tantamount to heresy around right here. in straightforward terms ones who understand are my mom and husband and in straightforward terms by way of fact they are from different states and grew up removed from this section in greater accepting places. something of my family contributors could be a) devastated b) horrified c) in all probability disown me. even while i exchange into nonetheless non secular, the minute I asked an harmless question while i exchange right into a newborn, I have been given scolded or instructed I shouldn't question God or the Bible for any reason. My concept exchange into how ought to they anticipate me to have faith in the event that they refused to respond to my questions. So yeah, regardless of if i exchange into nonetheless non secular, it wasn't "good sufficient" without blind concept, so for me to outright say that i did no longer have faith might probable wreck my existence, too. Small community like this, there is not any way i prefer to be prevalent by way of fact the "close by atheist".

No as it is not a social stigma to be a Christian while sometimes it is to be atheist. They may be in a strongly atheistic family but that is about it.
