I would just let it be. It might not even be there anymore I am sorry to say, that happens a lot. Digging up a grave is illegal. Be careful certain decisions you can never take back. Good luck.

Wow. Uh, you will be caught at the cemetery - digging out a full-sized coffin 6 feet down and possibly in a vault is no easy task, my friend. Then you may need a crane to lift the lid and break the seal - then you will be exposed to the body and you will definately not get it all put away before someone finds you. Cemeteries do get patrols for grave-robbing, the people adjacent are sensitive to digging noises from inside the cemetery and sometimes people's relatives come to see them at night - you will get caught. Of course if you confess it to the second wife, she can have the grave exhumed and she can have you put in jail. If you tell her, she can have the jewelry and her sweet revenge. If you get caught robbing the grave, you are going to jail anyway for that charge. Putting her jewelry in his grave is something you might get off on probation for, though, and digging him up to get it - no matter your intentions - will land you hard time. I would talk to a lawyer and have them figure out a path through this mess for you. With the proper agreement, she would not press charges but she can have the jewelry. Talk to a lawyer - NOT her lawyer.

Why the change of heart with the 2nd wife?
If I were you I would have taken that secret "to my grave" (sorry about the pun).
I would think that perhaps the grave-robbers or funeral home attendants have already beaten you to it. You would probably just get arrested & you don't have the tools to break into a burial vault anyway--that's crazy!
If you are serious about trying to investigate & fix this, you may be able to get a court order to exhume the body, but they would probably make somebody pay for the costs & I bet it's in the $1000's to dig him up.
Is this a real story or did you make this up---it sounds like a bad Lifetime movie!

I don't have your experience; however, I believe it is a very serious crime to tamper with graves. If you have $95,000 worth of jewelry in the casket, it seems a more careful approach to talk to the cemetery or someone else about exhuming the body, and paying the appropriate fees. Perhaps you could be present at the exhuming to ensure you get all of the jewelry you are looking for. Here is the site of one state government (Nevada) regarding dead bodies.

First of all, you must be joking. Second, the funeral home checks the body for valuables etc before they lower the body into the ground, so I'm certain it wouldn't be with your father any longer. And third, you do realize that they lower the coffin into a cement vault, correct? Unless you have super human strength you're not going to be able to open it.

Holy crow, it truly does take all kinds, doesn't it? Chances are, the owners at the funeral parlor took the jewelry out of the casket before your father was buried so there is nothing more to ponder! ;) Get help in the meantime!

OMG
One thing I found out , and this is the truth, many funeral directors take the jewelry off without you knowing it.
Aside from that, you can get it done legally and have his body exhumed . Call the cemetery where he is and ask them what you have to do.

Dude, it is so illegal to dig up the dead not to mention disrespectful.
Trust me, even in a good casket the body decays and you really don't want to be digging around in it. The jewelry is probably ruined.

if this is true then you need to go and see his second wife and explain what you have done and why,she can then do what she needs to do,you may get arrested for it but the charges for digging up a rest place will be a lot worse if you are caught,if this is a joke then you need serious help

Yes... Me and 4 of my friends have gone through this same thing... Not really. I hope the jewelry is still there and wasn't stolen before he was put in the ground.
