I have suffered from depression, or at least believe I have, for the last 2-3 years. I just got off medication about 2-3 wks ago because I hate being on chemicals, and the side effects were awful. I wanted to try being natural.

I am always so sensitive, and overemotional. A few months ago I ended my first serious relationship for reasons out of my control, and till this day I can't talk about it without crying. One of my childhood best friends was killed 3 yrs ago, and I still am extremely sensitive to it. My other friends who were friends with her as well, of course loved her dearly, but can talk about it without crying. When something bad happens to me, I feel like I overexaggerate everythuing, and my whole world crashes down. I can't help it.

I feel much better with regards to the depression. I do not feel like I have black cloud over my life anymore, when I used to. But I often get teary-eyed just from a song and want to break down
Is this a symptom of depression?

Being extremely sensitive and emotion all of the time is not necessarily a sympton of depression.

Some of the most jolly people are very sensitive, I know many people like this. Being depressed is completely unrelated to emotional feelings. Depresion can be stoped the very next morning if someone put their mind to it, but it can be as hard as giving up smoking however. Emotional feelings are effectivley part of your mind, you are who you are. Just like if you're left or right handed.

Different people will react to depression in different ways though. If you have been sensitive all your life, than depression is meerely another obsticle of life. If however you feelings developed during your depression, than it may be your side affect.

You can never realy be sure untill you make up your own mind. Convincing yourself will answer your question

Some people are more sensitive than others. Don't be afraid to feel what you feel and be yourself. Problems come up when we begin to think we are different and attempt to avoid situations. This causes the problem, and then it snowballs. Accept who you are. If people can't accept you for who you are, don't worry, there are many different people in the world; not everyone is going to accept you or be your friend. Life is better with a few good friends and the ability to love yourself. Peace and be good to yourself and others.

I think you are just a normal person, we all suffer fromdepression at some time and some people are born just more sensitive to emotional things than others... take me for example I did not cry when my mum and dad died, they were both sick and it was better for them to die than to have prolonged sickness...
but when my silly cat got run over I bawled my eyes out, what would you make of that?

I am the same way.Without the meds after awhile I cannot function. You may just have to go back like I did to the chemical world. What a thrill! I know it sucks either way for us.

sounds like you are suffering, whether it's Depression (officially) or not, so getting back to a mental health profesh is probably a good idea. you don't have to suffer!

I would say that knowing what you've been through, it is completely understandable. Find someone you can talk to and just let everything out.

Yes. It is also a hormone imbalance. Go to an endocrinologist.
