There is no group that has more pagan practices than Catholics, other than pagans. Why is this so?

They are unaware that their rituals are pagan.Look at any answers from them here and you'll see that they believe people are picking on them. And when you point them out you get denials. And watch all the thumbs down this answer gets without even mentioning Constantine or the numerous pagan doctrines.

Many ritual practices in Catholicism have occurred because of early syncretism in the beginning stages. In an effort to get the pagans to begin conversion it was necessary that some or the holy days coincide. Then there was the crusades and then later on African slavery. Many people where force to convert or die. they begin secretly practicing there religions behind the guise of catholic saints. Voodoo, Santeria, Yoruba and many other religions have catholic flavoring. It is a 2 way street. Many catholic practices can be trace back to pagan whorship of deities. Look at easter for example. It has the flavoring of the goddess ostre. Sunrise service and painting eggs and chicks and bunnies. All of which bear meaning to the reserection of the Sun(son). Baby chicks and bunnies eggs signify rebirth and hope. If you would like to discuss it more hit me up later.

Because in many areas, as the Catholics tried to take over as the dominant religion, they did it by overlapping the very popular pagan practices. The best way to "make" the pagans Catholic was to allow them to keep their local customs, saints, superstitions, etc - or to find ones that were similar to Catholic ones and replace them. In my opinion there is so much similarity between the two religions because of this that sometimes its hard to tell them apart!

The Catholics literally ripped off the major pagan holidays turning them into Catholic feastdays. Hitler did the same.
Hitler put his image on the German postage stamp and then charged citizens a royalty fee for his image. Hitler replaced other politicians; the Pope of Europe replaced Jesus Christ with the Pope of Europe.
