Well that depends.... Dandruff is usually due to over-active or under-active sebaceous glands giving you oily scalp or dry scalp and dandruff. A good product for this would be Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Oil Shampoo available at salons, or the generic form available at Sally Beauty Supply. Another cause could be psoriasis of the scalp which is less likely in your case since it's "all of a sudden". You might also want to try to stay away from the Pantene. "Volume" is not necessarily whatt you need if your hair is thin, you need 'Body'...
Also, Pantene is known by professionals to leave a coating build-up on the hair shaft and scalp which could also be causing the flakes your seeing. There are some great men's hair products sold at salons, such as Matrix for Men and American Crew (or for thin hair, Nioxin) but if you prefer grocery store shopping, use Suave instead, although it's not best...it's better than Pantene.

how do you know its dandruff. It could be dermatitus. First go to a dermatologist to determine that it really is dandruff. Then try Neutrogena T-Gel. That's kinda harsh but its excellent. Then wash w/your usual shampoo. Make sure you rinse everything out really well and use a conditioner made for your type of hair.

Selsun Blue is the very best and medically used ani-dandruff shampoo but not one for long term use - just use until the dandruff is gone, then return to another shampoo.

Pantene and Head & Shoulders just dry out your scalp and make it worse. They aggresively remove the skin flakes, but in so doing, they dry the scalp and make more flakes appear.
Neutrogena T-gel with the pine tar extract not only removes the flakes, it conditions your scalp.
Another remedy that barbers recommend is to shampoo, rinse, then apply Listerine mouthwash to your head, rub it in, then rinse and shampoo again. (be careful about getting it in your eyes)
Use a brush, a scalp massager, or your fingernails to massage the scalp while you're shampooing.

Try treating your hair to some olive or coconut oil at home. Massage it good on your scalp and put some plastic wrap around it and wear it for at least 35 minutes. Then wash with a gentle shampoo and see if your scalp doesn't feel better. Do this at least once a week.

Switch to Paul Mitchell for a week or two, then go back to what you were using. Also, blow dry your hair instead of letting it air dry. Scalp moisturizer will help, too.
When you repeatedly use the same brand over and over, your scalp becomes adjusted to it as you age. Stay away from perfumed and unnatural soaps. Read the labels.

Try over the counter shampoos. Give them three weeks to see if they work. If not, contact a dermatologist so that he can properly take care of the problem. He will figure out the problem and cure the symptoms, not cover them up.
