To me, as a Catholic, being a Christian is MUCH MORE than obtaining a "Get Out Of Hell Free" card. It is much more than answering the simplistic question: "Are you saved".

It means two words: "Divine Sonship". God is a Father who is Fathering a family, and He wants you and I to sit at His table and be a partaker in the Divine Nature. It means having God as your Father, Mary as your mother, and all the family of God - in heaven and on earth - as your sisters and brothers. It means love, patience, and charity.

I cringe when someone asks me "Are you saved". I feel they have missed the most beautiful part of the good news, that we have been called to be sons and daughters of God.

This is what salvation means to me. What does it mean to you?

To Matthew T: Wouldn't the family be missing something, if you had a Father, brothers and sisters, but no mother?

Salvation means being saved. Redemption means being redeemed. There is a difference. Salvation implies that something was threatening you, from which you needed to be saved. Redemption implies that something "owned" you, for which a price had to be paid to get you back. If you were in a burning building and you saw a fire escape ladder, the ladder could be your salvation from the fire. If you brought something to a pawnshop, but later want it back, you have to redeem it by paying cash.

Remember, God is a spirit, and as a spirit He is without gender, though all through the Bible He is referred to in the masculine.The Bible never denotes Mary as being the mother of God. Oh wait, you asked what salvation means to me.
Accepting that Jesus the Christ is the Son of God and of man.
Repentance of sins. Although Jesus bore all our sins on the cross, they are not automatically forgiven, rather, we have to accept that forgiveness. What good is a gift given, if it's not accepted? What good for a woman to become pregnant, if she never delivers the child? What does that have to do with anything?
Salvation requires more than just believing; even the devils believe and tremble.
Don't accept any teaching without studying with prayer.

Cooperation with God's Grace

Salvation- Salvation is when you turn away from your sins. Allow Jesus in your heart and Jesus becomes sin for us. We are never good enough with out him. He became sin for us. When we allow him in our hearts he then covers us with his rightousness. So instead of a sinful person he sees nothing but beauty.

ABC's

A- Admitt your a sinner

B- Believe Jesus is Gods Son

C- Confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour

Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13).

It is only through the Blood of Jesus we are saved. Only Jesus can give us salvation. Only through him can we be saved. No one else can get us to heaven. Our works can not get us their either. The bible says not by works shall we be saved.

I'm in agreement with you. I don't elevate Mary as high as you do but your point is a very good one. Salvation is that relationship with our Creator.

You were doing fine until you mentioned the lying spirit who calls himself "the Virgin Mary".

I believe the Scriptures and therefore, the account of the real virgin who gave birth to the "SAVIOR".
Her name was Mary. But you seem to be more interested in what men have taught you than in what God has given us in the scriptures.

Saved?
Yes, I am defiantly saved and the Holy Spirit has come to live with me to prove that to me!

Son of God?
Absolutely!

Behold what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called the sons of God?

Part of the body of Christ, his family?
No doubt in my thankful mind!

Your brother in Christ?
I think so. You seem to be honestly seeking the savior.
Still, those who have fed you the rotten food, will be accountable for what they have done to millions.

I pray right now that the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ will deliver you from the lies you have been fed and set you free to worship him in truth and in spirit and to see the depth of his great love for us who believe. That you would know just how great is his mercy and see that he alone is the head of his body, in heaven and here on earth. In Jesus name Amen.

Salvation is a gift given by God to those whom He has called out for salvation. It is complete forgiveness for sins and redemption. We are justified by Christ's work on the cross. Salvation was completely accomplished at the cross, there is no more forgiveness needed. I don't mind at all if someone asks me if I am saved, I can answer in the affirmative, "yes, through Christ, and Christ alone".

Rom 5:9 Much more then, being justified now by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath through Him.

Rom 5:10 For if while being enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life;

Rom 10:9 Because if you confess the Lord Jesus with your mouth, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation.

Eph 2:5 even we being dead in deviations, He made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are being saved),

Eph 2:8 For by grace you are saved, through faith, and this not of yourselves; it is the gift of God;
Eph 2:9 not of works, that not anyone should boast;
Eph 2:10 for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God before prepared that we should walk in them.

2Ti 1:9 the One having saved us and having called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace given to us in Christ Jesus before eternal times,

1Jn 5:13 I wrote these things to you, the ones believing in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have everlasting life, and that you may believe in the name of the Son of God.

By the way, Mary isn't my mother. She was the mother of Jesus and His brothers and sisters. She is a sister in Christ, nothing more.
